ABSTRACT

An abstract is a brief and concise descriptive summary of statement of the

problem, hypotheses, significance of the study, research design, determination of

sample size, sampling design and technique, the subjects, the research instrument,

validation of the research instrument, data gathering procedure, data processing

method, statistical treatment, findings, conclusions and recommendations.

The abstract gives the reader a panoramic view of thesis and it consists of 100

250 words. If there are five objectives in a thesis, hence, there are also five

paragraphs of the abstract. In others words, each paragraph represents the result

each objective.

Introduction

The meaning of rationale in Thesaurus English dictionary is reasoning,

explanation, motive or purpose and background means setting, backdrop,

environment, and framework.

In Chapter 1 or the “The Problem: Rationale and Background,” the

CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents a description of the research design selection and

description of respondents, research instruments, data collection procedure and

statistical treatments used.

Research Design

The research study used the mixed approach (quantitative-qualitative type of

research design) to improve the evaluation by ensuring that the limitations of one type

of data are balanced by the strengths of another. This will ensure that understanding is

improved by integrating different ways of knowing by the researchers. Quantitative was

used to determine the statistical level of reading proficiency of kindergarten pupils as

well as their reading ability. Qualitative research design was also used to determine

and interpret the answers to the questions given to the interviewees such as the

[mention your study variables]. The results would be interpreted by researchers

through the use of research instruments to determine if there would be [mention your

hypothesis].

Population/ Respondents

The respondents will serve as the main source of data for the study. The

researchers selected _____ to become their respondents for the survey. To come up

Data Gathering Procedure

An approval sheet was first presented to the research adviser and to the

school administrator of the school to get an approval to conduct a survey and an

interview. The researchers then conducted interview to [# of respondents]. In which

respondents are asked to answer briefly five (5) questions in order for researchers to

obtain information. During the interview process some pictures were taken as a proof

of interaction.

After the interview, the researchers facilitated the respondents to answer the

survey questionnaires. The survey questionnaire contains ten (10) statement questions

answerable by four-point scale: Disagree (1), Disagree (2), Agree (3), Strongly Agree

(4). Researchers collected the survey questionnaire from [respondents] and compiled

interview clip as well. Audio clip was transcribed and survey results was computed

using descriptive and inferential stats.

Research Instrument

The researchers will use interview and survey questionnaire as the research

instrument to accomplished the study. In order to obtain data, the researchers

prepared two sets of questions, one for the interview and the other for survey. Both

questionnaires include a variety of questions on the [research study]. The interview

questionnaire consists of [# of questions] and the survey questions uses [types of

questionnaire used & # of items]. The information obtained could assist the

researchers when interpreting results.
