    AMITTAI (PERSON) [Heb ˒ămittay ( ‫]) אֲ ִמ ַתי‬.

    According to 2 Kgs 14:25 and Jonah 1:1, the father of

    the prophet Jonah. Noth (IPN, 162) suggested that the name is a shortened form of a nominal sentence

    using the Hebrew word for ―truth‖ or ―faithfulness‖ (˒emet). Thus it means literally ―my truth‖ or
