CK2 by Calvin Klein

This eau de toilette was created by the famous perfumist Pascal Gauri in collaboration
with Ann Gottlieb, at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in New York City for Calvin
Klein.

Calvin Klein got his start in spring of 1968, when he soon became famous for his clean,
modern sportswear. But the brand established itself with their sexy denim jean cuts and
their 1985 fragrance "Obsession", followed by their 1988 hit "Eternity", and, later, CK
ONE, a unisex fragrance released to compliment their sportswear line.

Following the sexy and fresh line of work, he released CK2 in 2016, also marketed as a
unisex fragrance aiming to the millenial public. Its aroma belongs to the olfactory family
of woody aromatic. It starts with the fruity splendor of mandarin and pear, which combines
with the spiced and characteristic touch of wasabi and the gentle touch of violet leaves.
In its heart, delicacy and floral notes of lily roots, hedion, peony and roses combine with
the natural and strange aroma of wet rocks. Deep, vetiver, sandalwood, incense and
white musk, confer a freshness and unisex aroma full of characterization.

The bottle is minimalist, pill-shaped. A clear glass exposes the also clear fragrance, both
representing freshness and purity. The originality is presented in the acrylic base, which
can hold the bottle both upside and downside.
Teacher's question: Is it imрortant or not to wear good рerfumes in рrofessional
life? Justify your answer.

I don't think wearing “good” perfumes is necessarily important in any ambit. The use of
perfume has contemporaneously become a symbol of social status, as almost everything
in the world of fashion and beauty which can be problematic as we start to put humans in
a scale of class because of their monetary privileges. For example, when someone's odor
is perceived as “cheap” or “unlikeable”, they are systematically submitted to be seen as
lesser than those who carry an expensive smell.
Since the fear of natural human odors led society to take this beauty item as a canon, I
think we can review fragrances and perfumes, and see them as technologies of personal
expression rather than technologies of social status.
