A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
Let us all stand.
Let us pray.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Good morning class!
Good morning, Teacher Olive!
You may now take your seats.
Thank you, teacher!
Before we start, I have some rules you need to
follow;
I want you to sit properly.
Listen carefully to the discussion.
Raise your hand if you want to answer and
Participate well in the given activity.
Is it clear?
Yes, teacher!
Thank you!

2. Review
Class, can you tell me what was the lesson that
you have learned last time?
It is about subtraction!
What is subtraction?
Who can answer?
Yes, Kaira.
Subtraction is taking away or removing a
number from another number.
Very good!
Can you name the parts of a subtraction
sentence?
Yes, teacher!
Let say this example;
9-2=7
What part of a subtraction sentence is the
number 9?
Teacher that is minuend.
Very good!
What about the number 2?
Teacher that is subtrahend.
Good!
What about the number 7?
Teacher that is difference.
Very good!
What sign do you use to show “taking away”?
Teacher that is minus sign.
Very good!
Okay class let us practice your skill in
subtraction.
For this activity, I use a clock to practice you on
finding the difference.
So I will call one of you to answer on the board.
All you have to do is to write the subtraction
sentence and solve the problem.
9 -2
53 7

for example; 9-2=7

Now who wants to
answer?
Yes, Aljhane. 5-2=3

Very good!
Another. 7-2=5

Good.
Another one. 3-2=1

Very good!

3. Motivation
Class, how many of you have already gone to
the market with your mother? Teacher, me!

Good!
Have you seen fruits and eggs there? Yes, teacher!

Nice!
As you can see class, I have my own fruit stand
here in front of you.

My selling partner is Doraemon.

One day, Novita’s mother asks Novita to buy

apples.
She can’t go to the market because she was
sick.
So Novita decided to take care of his mother.
Going to the market, Novita have three (3)
baskets.

Doraemon want to put two (2) apples in each

basket.

Who wants to help Doraemon?

Yes Neil John.

Very good Neil John.

Class, how many baskets are there? Teacher there are three baskets.

Very good!
How many apples are there in each basket? Teacher there are two apples in each basket.

Very good!
How many apples are there in all? Teacher there are six apples in all.

Very good!
What did we do to get the total number of the
apples? Teacher we add;
2+2+2=6

Very good!
But we can solve it this way;
3x2=6
Where 3 is the number of baskets; and
2 is the number of apples in each basket.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
Class what have you notice to the equation; Teacher it’s a repeated addition.
2+2+2=6

Very good!
Do you want to know another way to make Yes teacher!
repeated addition easier?
2. Discussion
Class, in our example;
2+2+2=6 Teacher an addition sentence!
This is what?

Very good!
Class, when we add the same number
repeatedly, that is a repeated addition.
In that, we can also use this equation;
3x2=6
Where the number 3 stands for a group and
The number 2 stands for the number of apples
inside each basket.
Class, do you have now an idea about this
equation 3x2=6?
Can you guess the operation we use? Yes teacher! It is multiplication.

Very good!
Okay class, let me clear this;
2+2+2=6 this equation is a repeated addition;
and
3x2=6 this is a multiplication sentence.
So what is a multiplication?
Can you guess? ___

Multiplication class is a repeated addition.

Class, please repeat what I have said. Multiplication is a repeated addition.

Good!
When you see this sign “x” it means to multiply.
Again, what is the meaning of this sign “x”? Teacher it means to multiply.

Good!
In the given multiplication sentence 3x2=6, we
call 3 as the multiplier because it stand for a
group.
Like this;
3 groups of 2 = 6
Also in this example, number 2 is the
multiplicand that stands to the number from
each group.
Lastly, the answer to the equation which is
number 6, we call it the product.
Again class, what are the parts of a
multiplication sentence? Teacher the parts of a multiplication
sentence are multiplier, multiplicand and the
product.
Very good!
In this multiplication sentence;
3x2=6
Which number is the multiplier? Number 3!

Good!
Which number is the multiplicand? Number 2!

Good!
Which number is the product? Number 6!

Good!
What is the symbol we use in multiplication? Teacher we use this sign “x”.

Good!
Class, did you understand the lesson? Yes teacher!

Do you like another example? Yes teacher!

What if I have 3 baskets and my costumer put 3

eggs in each basket?

What will be the answer?

Teacher we write;
3+3+3=9 or
3x3=9

Very good!
In this problem, where is the multiplier?
Can you go to the board and point it?
Yes teacher! It is number 3.
Very good!
Where is the multiplicand?
Teacher it is also number 3.

Good!
How about the product?
Teacher it is number 9.
Very good!
3. Application
Class, I will group you into 3 groups.
This time you need to cooperate with your
group mates to win the task.

So group 1 with 6 members will be;

Kaira
Kisses
Sabriana
Ahliejah
Eumi
Kyle
Group 2 with 6 members will be;
Christian
Ken
Jed
Aljhane
Sofia
Freja
Group 3 with 5 members will be;
Mico
Shanessa
Roma
Neil John
Jamaica

Here’s the rule;

In this activity, you have to make sure that your
answer is correct before you write it on the
space given.
You have to work with your group with less
noise.
And I will give you 3 minutes to finish the task.
Is it clear? Yes, teacher!

A. Name the parts of a multiplication sentence.

3x2=6

B. Fill the missing numbers.

__ __ __ __ __

4x__=___ A.
3 = multiplier
“x” = times
2 = multiplicand
= equal sign
6 = product

B.
2+2+2+2=8
4x_4_= _8_

Very good!
4. Generalization
Class can you tell me what is our topic for
today? Teacher our topic for today is about
multiplication.

Very good!
What are the parts of a multiplication sentence? Teacher the parts of a multiplication
sentence are multiplier, multiplicand and the
product.

Very good!

IV. Evaluation
Fill in the missing numbers.
Example;
How many eggs are there in all?

there are _3__ groups of 2 eggs

2+2+2= 6
3x2=6
There are _6_ eggs in all.
1. How many rambutan are there altogether?

There are _____ groups of 6 rambutan

__ + ___ = ___
__ x ___ = ___
There are ____ eggs in all.

2. How many carrots are there altogether?

there are ____ groups of 3 carrots

___ + ___ + ___ + ___ = ____
___ x ___ = ___
There are ____ carrots altogether?

3. How many apples are there altogether?

There are ___ groups of 3 apples

___ + ___+ ___ + ___ + ___ = ___
___ x ___ = ___
There are ___ apples altogether.
Fill in the missing numbers.

1. How many rambutan are there

altogether?

There are __2_ groups of 6 rambutan

6_ + _6_ = _12_
_2_ x _6_ = _12_
There are _12_ eggs in all.

2. How many carrots are there

altogether?

there are _4__ groups of 3 carrots

_3_ + _3_ + _3_ + _3_ = __12_
_4_ x _3_ = _12_
There are _12_ carrots altogether?

3. How many apples are there

altogether?

There are _5__ groups of 3 apples

_3_ + _3_+ _3_ + _3_ + _3_ = _15__
_5_ x _3_ = _15_
There are _15_ apples altogether.
