1. What is the importance of community dialogue as part of the community engagement of 81 IB?

During our visit in Barangay Buga-Buga, we met Sgt. Major and First sgt and batallion commander LT, Col Castillo and the

other officers. on the first day they give some briefing and instruction for our first activity, and after that we went to barangay

San Jose Ilocos City, when we arrived there we met one squad that was deployed there and had our conversation with the

squad leader about the situation regarding to that certain place, he told us that the said place is one of the list which is positive

to NPA’s and as we roamed around the entire community and we meet the Barangay Captain and had a small talk with him in

which he has just the same statement with the squad leader and as far of my observation to that particular place after having

a community dialogue with the members it gives us the opportunity knowing them well especially to learn their culture and also

enable us to gather some information and as the most significant in having a community dialogue is that were capable enough

to determine if the person were talking to is a suspicious one, and also us soldiers need to get involved together with the

people to that community in order for us to build and maintain a good relationship with them, we need to show on what is right

especially to the children, children are the future hope of the country they should not be blind about the law, they should at

least know the plans of the government together with the 81st IB who is always ready to serve them and influence a peaceful

community and as duty of a soldier we should always be ready, prepared and opposed with weapons at all times to protect

them and willing to risk ourselves just to defend the civilians.

2. If you are one of the platoon leaders under A or B Coy of 81st IB, what possible defensive lay out you can further suggest in

their platoon hqs in case of enemy attack?

If I am a platoon leader of Alpha Coy of 81st IB the defensive layout I could suggest is that we need to make a triple fence

and a fox hall that should be surrounded in the perimeter defense. In every post, there should be a durable barricade

because the enemy is more like a theft that we can’t predict when they’ll going to attack us. Our weapons should always be

clean and ready to use all times and especially we need to have enough supply of bullets and other weapons that our

company needs in order for us to build a defensive layout which will not be easily disintegrated. As a platoon leader I will

influence an awareness to my troops that when they are on duty at night, they should be alert the whole time, everyone

should have preparation their radio must be always full charge in order to easily communicate and easier to ask for a

reinforcement in case the enemy will engage or attack us. I will secure everything not just physically but also mentally, I want

my troops to keep their high morale, boost their high morale so that everyone can’t feel worriedness and especially I will

secure each day the area of responsibilities on the company of Alpha Coy 81st (SPARTAN) IB.

3. What are the significant activities of 81 IB you think you contributed to the over-all peace and security of development of their

AOR?

The significant activities of 81st IB which I can consider that had contributed an over-all peace and security of development of

their AOR is that when we arrived to that certain place. There is a CSP roamed the entire barangay in order to maintain on

securing the place. They were doing survey in every house to gather information in each people, ask for some statement

about the history of that place if possible, to know if the barangay has a record of NPA’s living there before or until now and
by this activity of 81st IB it contributes a security development of their Area of Responsibilities. Interacting with the people

without bringing with them their weapons is been an advantage for the people not to be hesitate to approach them in case if

there are troubles or suspicious people have entered their place, engaging with the people is also an opportunity for the 81 st

IB where it enables them to know well the people in their surrounding and to whom they were going to trust. They are also

conducting a CMO, visiting the other barangay which is near to the place they were deployed, in order to help the poor, they

were giving a free medical assistance, feeding program and an extra-game for the children including the youth during their

program and by that 81st IB successfully built or influence a peace in the community through making good relationship to the

people.
