Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

10 mins 1. Explicitly teach the meaning of nouns to students:


o Words used to describe a person, place or thing (point to
headings on the board) are called nouns. Match up cards
o Stick an example picture card under each heading
o Students will help match the rest orally
o Select three students for the last three examples
10 mins 2. Each student will be given a post-it-note with a person, place or thing
written on it. The words person, place or thing will be stuck around the
classroom. They must find the correct group and work collaboratively
to do so. Remind students to ask a friend if they need help or cannot Sticky notes and group
read their word. headings
3. Once everyone has found their group instruct students to peer check
the group and stick their post it note onto the group word.
5 mins 4. Students will return to the mat.
5. Explain the worksheet. Worksheets
30 mins 6. Send students back to their desks and move around the classroom to
provide support/assistance where needed. Focus on target students.
7. Mark and initial worksheet.
8. Students will stick the worksheet into their English scrapbook.

10 mins Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)


 Instruct students to collect a whiteboard and marker from the front of
the room
 Ask students to give an example of a person, place and thing and
hold up their whiteboard

 Students will put their English scrapbook away
 Students will pick up any rubbish and put stationary away
 Students will clean whiteboards and put materials away
 Teacher will collect group cards from the floor
