EPDM - Resistance Guide
Composition and functionality
EPDM is generally characterized by its superior resistance to heat, aging and chemical resistance, good
cold behavior as well as good electrical insulating properties. These qualities enable a long service life
with a static load. EPDM is often used in the automotive industry, for washing machines and also
dishwashers because EPDM achieves good results towards suds and cleaning solutions at higher
temperatures. The resistance to hot water and steam is very good; therefore it is also well suited for
seals and hoses within the heating engineering as well as fittings and household appliance industry. The
temperature range for a continuous operation is roughly between -30°C to +130°C and for a short-term
operation, the temperature range is approximately between -50°C and +150°C. Subsequently some
application examples of certain materials or properties are listed:

NBR - Chemical Resistance
Composition and functionality
NBR is generally characterized by an excellent resistance to petrol, grease and mineral oils and is
applicable for example in the automobile and motor industry as a material for bellows, fuel hoses and
seals. The temperature range for a continuous operation is roughly between -30°C to +100°C and for a
short-term operation, the temperature range is approximately between -50°C and +120°C. The ozone,
weather and aging resistance is considered to be low. Subsequently some application examples of
