As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:


• Write a title page on google slides with the name of their landmark and their
name.
• Research the description of their landmark and write notes about it on a
brainstorm sheet.

Teacher’s Prior Preparation/Organisation: Provision for students at educational


- Print research worksheet (brainstorm risk:
sheet) - Students are paired into 2 and 3
- Have 10 iPads ready. pairs so that the year 2’s can
- Have chrome books ready (GREEN) have help with researching their
chosen landmark.

- Ask students to find a pair that is not in
their year (year 2/3 pair) that they can work
well with.
- Ask them to be honest.
- Tell the students that they are going to be
logging on in a moment, once they log on they
need to go onto google classroom à Classwork
àAustralian Landmark Project
- Ask half of the pairs to silent read and half
stay on mat.
- If they are confident in logging in let them
go log in.
- Model how to log in to the other students.
- once most people have finished logging on in
the first group, get the silent readers to
log on.
- Once everyone has finished logging on and
have their landmark project up, they will sit
back on the mat.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure,

Back on mat:
- Explain that the pair they are in; is the
pair they will be working with for the
project.
o Same landmark.
o Help each other with research.
o Do their own slides.
- Tell them that they are going to do a lucky
dip to pick the landmark on as I want
everyone to have a different landmark.
- Show them the title page they need to
complete, once they have picked a landmark.
- Explain that you are going to ask one student
from each pair to come and lucky dip a
landmark, after they have their landmark they
can go and complete their title slide.
- Get one student from each pair to come up and
pick a landmark from the lucky dip bowl.
- Let students go complete their title slides.
Desk:

- Give them 5-10 minutes to complete their
title slides.
- Ask students to PUT THEIR CHROME BOOKS AWAY
once they have completed their title page and
sit back on the mat.

Back on the mat:


- Ask:
o “What is the next slide you need to
work on?”
o “What do we need to do first, before we
write the slide?” à research.
o “Who remembers what sort of things to
research for a description?”
à Words/group of words that
describe what it is.
à Useful facts that help to
describe it.
- “What do we type into google to find this
information?”
- Remind them how to research properly and
model it on an iPad.
- Ask for one student from a pair to come and
get a worksheet and the other to get an iPad.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with


students)

- Ask students to sit on the mat.


- Tell them that they will be writing the
description slide in the next lesson – show
the description slide example (one we wrote
as a class).

- Let students go to lunch.
