Living in The It Era-H

1. What is Information Technology? (IT)

Information technology is the use of computers to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the
context of a business or other enterprise. IT is considered to be a subset of information and communications technology.

2. What is Information Communication Technology? (ICT)

Is an extensional term for information technology (IT) that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of
telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals) and computers, as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware,
storage, and audiovisual systems, that enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.

3. What is digital era?

The Digital Era is characterized by technology which increases the speed and breadth of knowledge turnover within the economy
and society. Evolutionary theory, as an explanation of the system we live in, states that sustainability relies on knowledge turnover.
In parts of the system which are relatively stable, knowledge turnover is low, and new variation, when produced, is rarely retained.
In other, less stable parts of the system, faster knowledge turnover is advantageous as new knowledge is produced more frequently
allowing for adaptation to the changing surrounding environment.

4.Advantage and disadvantage of living in the IT era.

Advantage

Social Connectivity
Digital technology makes it easy to stay in touch with friends, family, and work remotely, even if you are in another part of the
world. You can communicate by words, video, audio, and exchange other media
News
Increasing numbers of people get their news online, either via a website or social media. Even traditional news media, such as TV
and radio, have been digitalized.
Banking and Finance
Online banking done either through a laptop, tablet, or phone app is now the norm. Bank users can now check their incoming and
outgoing payments remotely, as well as arrange money transfers and bill payments.
Transportation
Many trains and airplanes already rely to an extent on digital technology. Road vehicles, such as cars and trucks, will become fully
automated in the not too distant future.
Entertainment
The entire entertainment industry and the way that people amuse themselves has been radically transformed. Many people get
their fun from online social media, or playing computer games.
Disadvantages
Complexity
We no longer understand the devices and machines that we interact with on a daily basis. Fixing a modern car now means
interacting with a computer, it is no longer just mechanical. Using a phone can involve tackling all sorts of complicated settings.
Minor glitches in a laptop can cost time and expense.
Social Disconnect
There is an increasing tendency for people to socialize and communicate via digital devices rather than through real life contact.
This can easily lead to a sense of disconnect and isolation.
Addiction
Social media, computer games, messaging, and dating websites can all be addictive. Games want you to play so that you will buy
the next version. Websites want you to interact so that they can bring in advertising money. Users end up wasting vast amounts of
time and hemorrhaging money for low return.
Second-hand Living
Many people no longer experience real life events directly. Music concerts or live shows are videoed on mobile phones, events are
photographed, audio is recorded. Media is uploaded onto social sites. Life becomes something that is experienced through the
prism of digital media rather than at first hand.
Plagiarism and Copyright
Digital media is remarkably easy to copy and reproduce. Copyright laws are increasingly hard to enforce, as the music and movie
industries have discovered to their cost. School kids can copy and paste their homework projects without really learning anything.
4. How does it help you in your daily life?
We are living in an era of advanced technology, where every part of our daily lives is related to the science of craft in one way or
another. There’s no doubt that over the year technology has been responsible for creating amazingly useful resources which put all
the information we need at our fingertips.
Education

Technology has been gradually integrated into the global education system over the years. Better ways of passing knowledge and
information to students have been realized because of this. Technological advancements in teaching and assessment have made it
possible for learning institutions to become more effective and efficient.

Communication

Technology has also immensely helped in day to day communication and sharing of information. The invention of gadgets like
the mobile phone and the computer, day to day communication has been made so much easier. The establishment and growth of
the World Wide Web are also another evidence of how technology has made communication and interaction easier on a global
scale. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have made interaction so much easier and fun at the same time.

Health

The health sector has also not been left behind as numerous technological advancements have made it easier to diagnose and
treat a wide range of illnesses. Modern hospitals are equipped with the latest tech gadgets that help doctors and nurses to better
take care and assist their patients. Technology has played a crucial role in keeping so many people alive through life support
machines and other specialized health equipment. Technology also aids in the scientific research of new medicines and cures that
are beneficial to the entire human race.

All in all, technology evidently plays a big role in our daily lives. Without these new inventions and new ways of doing things, our
world would remain stagnant, and there would be no hope for the human race. Innovators and inventors from all over the world
are encouraged to come up with new inventions and new ways of doing things in order to make the world a better place.
