Seminar on the Introduction of Music Education as a Holistic Approach

Duration: 2 hours

Synopsis
As a music teacher, we often encounter
challenges in our instructional teaching.
Why do we need Music education? What
should we teach in Music education? And
what is the purpose and end result of music
education? The seminar will reveal the
well-established teaching principles and
philosophical thought from multiple
well-known practitioner and pedagogue.
There are many ways to learn and teach
music. By understanding the foundation and
the sense of purpose in music education, it
will enable the teacher to identify the
essential core teaching strategies and teach
to the optimum capacity of his or her
students’ potential. Having many challenges
in teaching children as young as three years
old up to adult level? The two hours seminar
will also cover child development centre
approaches to music education which it
might be useful to the teacher.

Biography
Mr. Lim Li Wen obtained his Master of Education (Music Education) from Sultan Idris Education
University. He is a full-time primary school Music Teacher. During his spare time, he also
teaches piano, violin, choir and band. He is a member of various NGOs including ISME, NAfME,
M.A.M.E. and MSMM. He serves as chief editor of the Malaysian Association for Music
Education (M.A.M.E. Baru) bulletin. He also serves as a member of the music and art education
(Music) textbook panel for primary Chinese school since 2015. Being actively invited as a
speaker by the education sector from public and private schools, he constantly shared many of
his ideas and practice to teachers.
