Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Students will have access to an activity that will be self-directed where
they can listen to content with narrated video slides while answering questions along the way. This can be
done at each individual student’s own pace. It has interactive questions that will help correct student’s
misconceptions and reinforce main ideas. Questions are spaced out every couple of slides to help maintain
attention and have students engage with the material. I provided Quizlet cards that have the vocabulary and
main ideas broken down onto cards for review and homework. These Quizlet cards serve as ways to engage
classmates and compete for high scores as well as notes for the lesson.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I will show students a picture of the preamble of the constitution and have them think of what it is, pair up to
share ideas and then share by group. I will have kids go onto a website that has the information broken down
at an individual pace that they will explore before being given the Quizlet. It can be given as homework if
time runs out in class and serve as a resource for the test.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☒ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Students can do a matching activity where
they match correct responses or definitions to vocabulary words or questions. They are timed and can
compete against classmates for the highest ranked times. Students can use the Quizlet activities just as a
flashcard set and practice the material. Students can learn, write, spell, or test themselves with the cards.
Students can play the gravity game where they must provide a short answer for each question or definition
for each vocabulary word. Students can meet online in real time and play against each other to answer
questions.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
See Quizlet website:

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☐ Yes ☐ No
☒ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Students will have immediate feedback to help reinforce concepts and correct misunderstandings. For the
answers that do not have one correct answer, there will be no feedback; they are meant to get them
analyzing and evaluating the ideals behind the preamble and the government.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? Students will have their scores recorded so that I can
check them or print out their scores for homework collection.

How will the data be used? I will use this for my personal progress monitoring collection and/or as a
homework grade that gives the students 100% if they completed it or zero if they did not do it. It will let me
know who needs addition support and who is understanding the material.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. In this learning activity, I am setting up a structural
support for students to allow them to go their own pace with me not being involved except for the
introduction and support along the way. I am hoping that the students will enjoy having an online lesson that
will be a different format and set at a different pace. I want to be able to structure in learning activities that
are independently navigated to where I can come in the next day and have the students engage in an activity
while supporting those that are still grappling with the concept.

Reflective Practice: This was an introductory lesson and I feel that I did not really have the students do much
to apply this learning in new ways or find a way to evaluate the system on deeper plains. I would like to have
the students come in and rewrite the preamble as a song or short story. They can create a book, comic strip
or poem to go with it. They can create a work of art the exemplifies the ideals behind it. I would have the
kids practice in groups first where they “teach” each other the meaning, and then go into a new activity.
