I. Objectives
After going through the discussion, the students should be able to:
1. Discover literature as a means of connecting to a significant past
2. Differentiate the life during Pre-Colonial Period and 21st Century
3. Describe a literary genre during the pre-colonial period
2. Activity
a. Show students paintings and ask them to describe the kind of life the Filipinos
had during the Pre-Colonial Period.
b. Analysis
What is the difference between the life during Pre-Colonial Period and the life
suring the 21st Century?
c. Abstraction
1. After describing the paintings, ask the students to compare the life before

2. Encourage them to give Filipino Proverbs they know.
3. Discuss the Sinaunang Baybayin to the students.
4. Explain:
The cultural achievements of pre-colonial Philippines include those
covered by the prehistory and the early history (900–1521) of
the Philippines archipelago's inhabitants, the indigenous forebears
of today's Filipino people.
Prehistoric people devised and used their own system of writings
from 300 BC, which derived from the Brahmic family of
scripts of Ancient India. Baybayin became the most widespread of
these derived scripts by the 11th century.
During Pre-Colonial Period:
