 - To provide students/participants with
adequate knowledge and
understanding of the relation between
Shariah and Human Rights, their
harmony, conflict and intersection, and
core contemporary issues in Indonesia.

- To provide students with broad and

comprehensive knowledge about
intersections, harmonies and conflicts

OBJECTIVES
that arise between Shari’ah and Human
Rights from interdisciplinary
perspectives, including historical,
philosophical, conceptual, legal, and
sociological, and be able to understand
and identify the primary Human Rights
Instruments at both the national and
international levels, in order to analyse
contemporary issues involving Human
Rights and Shari’ah in Indonesia
properly, and with ability to
communicate their understanding both
verbally and in writing.
 WORKSHOP RESEARCH
3 day-course/workshop on 2 months-research: in this
Shari’ah and Human Rights phase, all students/participants
(June 26-28, 2019). conduct research (library
and/or fieldwork) on chosen
topics on Shari’ah and Human
rights in Indonesia. During this
phase student may/should
consult the lecturers with
regard to content, method,
approach, and technicalities.
The output of the research is a
written report/paper (10-15
pages) which should be
presented and discussed in
class seminar (phase 3).
