The learner shall be able to:

LEARNING a. Identifies various contemporary art forms and their practices from the various regions;
COMPETENCIES b. Classifies various art forms found in the Philippines;
c. Defines contemporary arts in the Philippines.

The learner shall be able to:

a. Define the term “contemporary art” in art historical, cultural and stylistic terms;
SPECIFIC LEARNING b. Explain the difference between contemporary art and modern art in the context of the
OUTCOMES (CPA) Philippines various histories, cultures, and identities; and
c. Demonstrate the major characteristics of contemporary art through an artwork that would
require teamwork and collaboration.

The teacher will group the students in to four. They will play a game
MOTIVATION entitled “The MUB” (Make Up + Blind). Each group will choose 2 15 mins (Day 1)
representatives.
The instructions:
 member(1) must cover the eyes and do the make up to member(2)
 other member will be the one to guide/instruct to member(1)

INTERACTION The teacher will discuss the following topics to the class.

o Contemporary Art, Modern Art 1:35 hours (Day 1)


 The Characteristic of Contemporary Art
 Historical Overview 2:00 hours (Day 2)
 The similarities and differences between Modern Art and
Contemporary Art 2:00 hours (Day 3)
 Stylistic Overview
 Cultural Overview 2:00 hours (Day 4)
 The General Characteristics of Contemporary Art

INTEGRATION The teacher will group the students in to four. They will assign to
demonstrate the major characteristics of contemporary art through an
artwork that would require teamwork and collaboration. After that 2:00 hours (Day 5)
they will choose one representative to explain their artwork.

In a 1 whole sheet of paper the students will explain the following 1:50 hours (Day 6)
EVALUATION questions:

1. What is contemporary? Is it the same as being modern?


2. What is contemporary Art? What is Modern Art?
3. What are the similarities and differences between Modern Art
and Contemporary Art?
4. What are the general characteristics of Contemporary Art?

INTEGRATION The teacher will let the students to group in to four. Each group will
distinguish conservative, modern, and contemporary styles in the
visual arts and be able to interpret these by creating a self-portrait. 2:00 hours (Day 5)

The student will make a self portrait and explain the medium, and 1:50 hours (Day 6)
EVALUATION techniques that used, as well as the style. If the student cannot draw,
they will take a selfie and retouch according to style they prefer. Below
the self-portrait, write down the explanation.

Examples:

The students will research about the National Artist of the Philippines

given a “puzzle picture”. They will solve the puzzle and after that, they

b. What qualities should he or she possess?
c. Choose 1 representative to share in front.

The student will choose a partner, they will think about how they can 1:50 hours (Day 6)
represent an “ideal” artist. They may:
EVALUATION
a. Create a drawing/painting/ soft sculpture (using commercial
clay, textiles, and cotton, paper, etc.);
b. Perform a monologue/skit in class.

The students will research about the following:
