This 2-hour lesson plan aims to teach Grade 7 students about plant and animal cells through an inquiry-based science approach. The lesson begins by eliciting prior knowledge about cells, tissues, organs and systems. Students will then explore the structures and functions of organelles in plant and animal cells by comparing them using a Venn diagram. They will present their findings and the teacher will further explain the key differences between plant and animal cells based on the presence or absence of certain organelles. To evaluate understanding, students will illustrate and label plant and animal cells using food materials.

Grade Level Grade 7 Time Allotmen 2 Hours plant and animal cells according to presence 1.Differentiate Prepared by: Mrs. of or absence Benedicta G. Capunong Learning Competency: meiosis, and their role in the cell-division cycle; 2. certain Explain cell whyorganelles. S7LT-IId-4 the basic structural the cell is considered and functional unit of all organisms. S7LT-IIe-5 Sub-tasks for Competency in Focus: 1. Differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence of certain organelles. 2. Locate the specific organelles of plant and animal cells. 3. Internalize why the cell is considered the basic structural functional unit of all organisms. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to differ from animal cell, in terms of its function, location, similarities a
Lesson Outline Materials
Elicit ( Access prior knowledge) . Recall previous lesson by "4 pics 1 word" (pictures of different cells, tissues, organs and systems) pictures . A set of pictures will be shown and the learners will provide the right word projector, that captures the essence of the set of pictures Engage ( Get the students' minds focused on the topic) . The class will be divided into small groups and pictures of cell organelles will shown. Let each group try to guess what's the picture all about ( Picture analys pictures . Guide Questions: projector, 1. What is the basic unit of life? 2. Can you give examples of living cells? Give at least 5 examples… Explore ( Provide the students with a common experience) Comparing plant and animal cells by "Venn Diagram" Manila . Each group will be given factsheets and photos on the different organelles of paper, plant and animal cells. factsheets, Task: photos, . The learners will familiarize structure/appearance of each organelle by masking referring it on the given factsheets. After which, identify the similarities and tape differences in both cells, including the function of each organelle. Explain ( Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and learners) . Four (4) groups will be asked to present their outputs to the class. . Guide Questions: Laptop, 1. What structures/organelles are found only in plant cells? projector, 2. What organelles are present only in animal cells? 3. What organelles can be found in both cells? 4. Why the cell is considered the basic structural and functional unit of all organisms? . The learners should be able to explain the function of each organelle in plant and animal cells that have found on the activity. Elaborate( Students apply the information learned) . The teacher will discuss the differences between plant and animal cells PPT, according to the presence and absence of certain organelles. projector, . Then the learners will be asked to locate the different organelles on plant and laptop animal cells. Evaluate ( How will you know the learners learned the concept?) . The learners will be given enough time to illustrate and label the plant cell and jelly stick animal cell using a localized food products like cooked gulaman, colored gulaman, jelly, and biscuit. biscuit Extend ( Deepen conceptual understanding through use in the new context) . While the learners illustrating the organelles. They will then give a brief descri bondpaper on each organelle based on their understanding. pen
