Electrochemical or metal-physical reaction of metallic
material with its environment, leading to a change in its
properties.
 Corrosion degrades the useful properties of materials and
structures including strength, appearance and
permeability to liquids and gases.

 Preserving by oil or grease:
 On steel parts with non-stressed
surfaces or which need
corrosion protection for only a
short time, oiling or greasing
with acid-free lubricating oil,
diesel oil, packing grease or
acid-free Vaseline is sufficient.
 The oil or grease can be rubbed,
painted or sprayed on.
