INTRODUCTION
Himsan Polymer Pvt. Ltd. is known as the “Sealing Expert in Silicone” and
manufacture a variety of products. The company’s Prime Products are Platinum
Cured Silicone transparent Tubes, Platinum Cured Silicone Transparent Braided
hoses, Platinum Cured Silicone Transparent FBD Gaskets. Besides the above,
company also manufacture a host of products such as :-
The company is spending average 15% turn over for the Research & Development
equipments and new products.

The company is engaged in the manufacture of Platinum Cured Silicon tubes. All the
type of component materials used in the manufacture of Platinum Cured Silicon tubes
as detailed elsewhere in the document, are food grade certified.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPANY
FACILITIES-GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Since 2014 Himsan Polymer Pvt Ltd. has been manufacturing high temperature and
high performance Silicon Transparent Tubings for the Food, Pharma, Biotech
Industries, commercial, industrial markets & many other various applications.
Having an individual testing laboratory of approx. 400 sq.ft. area with well
equipped lab equipments for testing of different physical properties of Silicon
rubbers the list of testing equipments are as below.
Himsan Polymer Pvt Ltd is located just 1.5Kms from Bhayander rly stn &
5Kms off highway NH-8. We are in in Thane district and approx 45mins Drive from
the capital city of Mumbai.
Having an individual testing laboratory of approx. 150 sq.ft. area with well
equipped lab equipments for testing of different physical properties of Silicon
rubbers the list of testing equipments are as below.

MANUFACTURER PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Dedusting: -
Remove the Silicon rubber Bale from the cartoon box along with the
polythene cover
Dedust the silicon rubber thoroughly using a vaccum cleaner.
Remove the curing agent container from the cartoon or Plastic cover.
Dedust it with Vaccum cleaner throughout the outer body.
Remove the polyester yarn Cartridge from the cartoon box along with the
polyethylene bag.
Dedust the product with Vaccum Cleaner.
Open the outer gate and keep the raw material inside the Pass Box.
Close the outer gate and Keep the material for 3 – 4 seconds inside the pass
box under UV Light.
Open the inside gate and remove the raw material from inside the pass box and
keep the RM in under testing area for Qc approval.
QC Inspection
Weighing
Cross check the weighing scale readings by putting different master weights.
Serially weigh the ingredients according to the formulation card as per
displayed in SOP stand.
Weigh the batch ingredients according to the Production Plan.

The Material received from the RM stores is thoroughly checked.
Then the machine is thoroughly checked for
a) Lubrication
b) Nip gap ( gap between both the rolls ) to be adjusted as per the need ( upto
3mm max)
c) Temperature of both the rolls (should be cool enough i.e. below 45 deg) as
the higher temperature may cause the precuring and scorching of
compound.
Then the machine is started & first loaded with silicon rubber & preheated.
When the silicon rubber is sufficiently plasticized (preheated) the band of
material will slowly transfer from the slow roll to the fast roll
When this process occurs the Silicon rubber is ready for the addition of curing
agent.
If the rubber looks Grainy tightening the nip (gap between two rolls) should
improve the Mixing. Crumbs of compound which falls into the mill pan for
any length of time they may not mill smoothly leaving lumps which will give
poor appearance to the finished product.
Finally the catalyst is added but before adding the catalyst care should be
taken to make sure the compound temperature is cool enough, particularly in
the case of low temperature catalyst.
Then the rubber should be cut with the help of scraper (Knife) in the form of
sheets.
The sheeted rubber compound is laid out flat on release paper or waffled
surface polyethylene until cool.
It is then rolled up with an inter leaf.
The outside of the wrapper is clearly identified with the compound number the
weight of the batch and the date of compounding.
The compound is now ready for Extrusion.
A small section say a size of 2” x 2” is cut from a sheeted mixing compound &
tested for the below given detailed process as per the testing procedure given
in the test method.

Extrusion
After the mixing material approval the compound is forwarded directly to the
Extrusion machine
The material is then cut to even sizes strips for feeding to the Extrusion
machine.
The overall temperature of the machine & the water running into the machine
is checked (not more than 45deg’s) .
The temperature of the water is ensured for overall even temperature by means
of a TCU( temperature control unit ) which is responsible for the flow of water
with even temperatures in all the zones of the extruder m/c including barrels ,
rotary & die head.
The machine is ensured for the complete clean from inside so that there is no
mixing of two compounds.
Then the breaker plate with a set of wire mesh front 80 & back 60 is put in the
front of the Extruder supported with a die holder for fitting of the die & pin of
the recquired size.
Now the silicon rubber strips are feeded to the Extruder thru the hooper
containing feed roller for feeding the rubber strips at even rate.
The rubber now flows from the hopper to the die & outside the die with a even
controlled temperature & flow rate without changing any of its properties &
uniform recquired dimensions.

The dimensions & the wall thickness is controlled by a screw adjustment
located on the 4 sides equally distributed on the top of the die head.
When the material comes out of the die the adjustment is done and a sample of
the tube is cut & cured in online infrared curing oven to check the dimensions
of the tube after curing.
After ensuring all the parameters the material is now extruded to a desired size
& simultaneously passed thru an online curing oven which in turn is placed on
a conveying conveyer whose speed is synchronized with the speed of the
Extruder as if there is any variation in the conveying speed that is directly
reflected on the dimensions of our end product.
Parallely then the material is wound on an open perforated SS 316L Oven trey.
In this complete process it is completely ensured that there is least human
touch to avoid contamination.
After the extrusion process is done the material is kept to cool for some time.

Extrusion Inspection
All the Treys and sides of the oven are cleaned properly & ensured that there
is no contamination.
Then the post curing oven temperature and time is set as per the desired
( i.e.200 degs for 4hrs)
And start the Oven.
Place the Extruded products inside the oven along with the SS Treys after the
required temperature is acquired.
Care should be taken when Loading that there should be no direct contact of
the material to the heater covers
The material is Loaded inside the oven upto its capacity level.
Never open the oven door or load/unload during Post curing cycle.
After the post curing cycle is over the material is unloaded and moved to the
Waiting for final Inspection area.
Final Inspection
After receiving the intimation for final inspection the samples are collected
from the lot waiting for inspection in waiting for final inspection area.
Sampling inspection is done as per the following table.

2.0 IN PROCESS TESTS
Processing conditions at various stations can have significant influence on the final
quality and behavior of the Finished Products (Silicon Tubes). Through experience
and Product Data Sheets of different input materials, the Company has endeavored to
standardize optimum processing conditions at each station.
The standard processing conditions are seen as broad guidelines and fine tuning of the
individual parameter is the responsibility of the operator so as to ensure that the end
product from one particular station meets the desired quality levels for which the
operator needs to comply with respective SOP.
Process records are maintained in pre-designed formats at all stations listed below:

2. Universal tensile testing machine.
3. Molding press & Die for slab.
4. Hardness tester.
5. Oven with ±2oC accuracy.
6. Weighing of 0.01 gm (min) accuracy
Preparation :
Activity:
1. Cure the slab in die as per specified time and temperature. Cure the button and
measure the hardness after half an hour at three different points & record the
average value of these.
2. Make six dumb-bell pieces having dimension as mentioned below
3. Measure the thickness of all the six dumbbells at three points and record the
minimum value.
4. Place three test specimens in UTM for tensile testing & % elongation & record the
average of the three.
5. Place other three dumbbells in the oven properly hanged quite away from each
other & condition for specified time and temperature.
6. After completion of ageing take the sample out. Relax the sample for minimum
16 hours & check the tensile strength and elongation at break.
7. Record the average.
Calculation:
a) Change in hardness = (final hardness - initial hardness) °

Preparation:
Activity:
1. Keep the sample at room temperature / and 65±2% relative humidity for 1 hour.
2. Cut three samples each with 150 mm length and 25 mm width in case of fabric
and 150 mm length in case of cord.
3. Feed the speed of the UTM at 300mm / min, unless specified otherwise.
4. Place the specimen symmetrically in between the jaw grips with the longer
dimension parallel to the direction of application of force. Attention should be
given that the specimen doesn’t slip or break within the grips.
5. Record the breaking load and elongation.
6. Report the average of the results of the three individual tests.

1. Cut adhesion test specimens transversely from the sample in the ring of 25mm
width.
2. Condition the test specimen at 23±2oC for 2 hrs.
3. Place the test specimen symmetrically in the jaws attached to the fixed grip with
separating edge towards the jaws in the UTM.
4. Apply the tension load until the rubber either separates from the adhesive surface
or ruptures.
5. Record the total at the time of failure.
