The Philippines is just one of the south East Asian countries that are currently

experiencing troubles with regards to health. Around 11 mothers die every day. New born infants
are most likely in just a few months after having been born. There have been 27, 404 cases of
HIV-AIDS. And there has been an outbreak of dengue, tuberculosis and the like in small towns.
Sustainable Development Goal # 3: Good Health and Well-Being is a goal created to address
such problems. Yet, as of this moment, the Philippines has deteriorating health care services and
insufficient facilities making it hard for SDG # 3 to be achieved.

I think that there is a great need to address such problems. Why? If there are no
sufficient and efficient healthcare services then the country’s health problems, then more and
more health problems will arise. Perhaps, if none are solved, it may all lead to us, the citizens
and the country, Philippines to never fully achieve and reach SDG #3. Also, if health care is
given importance, people can be able to attend school, find a job and then work. He/she could
also be much more productive and would want to take initiative on solving other problems. This
increases the chances that the other sustainable development goals will be achieved. If one is
healthy, then one can work for a living, making poverty a small thing of the past and in the same
way, achieve SDG #1: No Poverty. If every single citizen is healthy and working, then there are
increased chance of achieving SDG # 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities since every
person in the community can stand on their own making the city also withstand the possible
changes as time passes by. If there are adequate or at least sufficient amount of health care
facilities and services offered by the government which can be accessible by the citizens then
everyone can be equally given what they are privileged to and provide what the people are in
most need of. This would show EQUALITY and EQUITY. And that would be one step in
achieving SDG # 10: Reduced Inequalities.

Yet, what should we do to solve our problems. Which is in this case, deteriorating health
care services and insufficient health care facilities? One solution that I could possibly
recommend is that we must take initiative. We must let the government know of our needs, rights
and privileges. Maybe we can do this through a campaign in social media or letting the
government unit know first. If we do all these, then our problems can be solve and in the same
way achieve the Sustainable Development Goal # 3: Good Health and Well-being.
