4.1 Introductory
Activity  Pre-Activity Instructions and preparation of materials needed for the
activity

 Through collaborative grouping, the students perform Activity No.

4.2 Activity Oceanic Plate found on pages 16-17 of Science 10 LM and answer the
questions that follows relative to the activity performed.

 Interaction on the following questions:

 Q1. What type of plate is Plate A? What about Plate B?
Why do you say so?
Q2.Describe what happens to Plate A as it collides with Plate B?
Why?
Q3. What do you think will happen to the leading Plate A as it

continues to move downward? Why?
Q4. What do you call this molten material?
Q5. What is formed on top of Plate B?
Q6. As the plates continue to grind each other, what other
geologic event could take place?

Typically, when an oceanic and a continental plate collide, the

4.4 Abstraction oceanic plate buckles and begins to subside beneath the continental plate
(which is less dense, and thicker). The continental plate above the
descending oceanic plate, usually begins to feel the effects of the
collision in the form of compressive tectonism - which create folds,
faults (and earthquakes) and volcanoes may (and usually do) form, while
coastal mountain ranges also are formed due to the compression
associated with the collision. Depending on exactly where the
subducting oceanic plate is, the volcanic activity will be andesitic and on
land (Andes) or will be more basaltic and form a new island chain
(Japan).
When two continental plates collide, either of two things happens:
one plate begins to subduct below the other, with similar overall effects
to the overriding plate, OR both plates buckle up and being to rise (the
Himalayas are the product of the collision of two continental plates).

 What are other geologic possibilities that will happen when two
4.5 Application continental plates continue to converge?
 Group Activity:
Each group report to class the result of their activity and compare to the
result of other group to check the correctness, validity and accuracy of
4.6 Assessment the result.
 The group share to class the generalization formulated from the
activity

features/events occur along converging of oceanic-oceanic plates?

4.8 Concluding
Activity

Indicate below special cases including but not limited to continuation of lesson plan to
the following day in case of re-teaching or lack of time, transfer of lesson to the
following day, in cases of classes suspension, etc.
5. REMARKS

Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your student’s
progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the students
6. REFLECTIONS learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when
you meet them, you can ask them relevant questions. Indicate below whichever is/are
appropriate.
A. No. of learners who
earned 80% in the
evaluation.
B. No. of learners who
require additional
activities for remediation.
C. Did the remedial
lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught
up with the lesson.
D. No. learners who
continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my learning
strategies worked well?
Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish
to share with other
teachers?
