Role Purpose: To assume responsibility for pastoral care of students in Years 10-12

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior School Coordinator, under the direction of the Dean of Students, has particular responsibility
for the ongoing pastoral support of all students in the Senior School. The position promotes the holistic
development of each student within a collaborative and integrated learning community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership in Academic Care

• To collaborate with the Dean of Students on the continued development and implementation of the personal
development (Lifeskills) program
• To collaborate with the Dean of Students in the planning, development and implementation of the student
leadership program
• To consult with the Dean of Studies and School Psychologists in profiling/tracking individual student
academic progress
• To collaborate with the Principal, Dean of Studies, School Psychologists and Learning Support staff in the
identification, support and monitoring of students with special needs
• To oversee the preparation of Interim Reports
• To collaborate with the Deputy Principal, Dean of Studies and Dean of Students in collating, editing and
signing of End of Semester reports
• To participate in the process of review, development, implementation and measurement of the Strategic
Plan for the Senior School

Leadership in student, parent and staff services

• To work with Form teachers in:


o the implementation of the Lifeskills program
o the provision of ongoing support to students
o the sharing of information about students
o the completion of administrative tasks

• To monitor the performance of teachers, particularly in the implementation of the personal development
(Lifeskills) program and leadership programs
• To provide ongoing support to students in the Senior School
• To develop a personal knowledge of Senior School students from spending time with them at breaks, in the
locker areas, and in general
• To carry out an induction process for new students entering the Senior School
• To support students who require additional consideration because of illness, personal or family problems.
This support may include: the organisation of work for absent students, rescheduling assessment or
examinations, the formal process of special consideration
• To collaborate with the School Psychologists in relation to individual students
• To collaborate with the Dean of Students and Head of Boarding on the ongoing support of boarding students
• To maintain regular communication with parents about the progress of their daughters
• To maintain a ‘first point of contact’ role for students, parents and teachers

• To plan and implement a community service project for the Senior School
• To participate in the preparation for Speech Night including the selection of prizes for students
• To organise a Senior School Parent Evening
• To conduct Year Level Assemblies
• To assist the Dean of Students in the organisation of specific activities or functions for the Senior School,
such as the Senior Induction, Senior Formal and Valedictory Dinner
• To collaborate with the Dean of Students in the planning and implementation of year level outdoor
education camps as appropriate

Leadership in student behaviour, uniform and grooming expectations

• To monitor student attendance and maintain an appropriate standard of behaviour within the Senior School
• To maintain the school expectations in relation to uniform and grooming within the Senior School
• To collaborate with the Dean of Students, School Psychologists, Heads of Department/Teachers-in-Charge
and teachers in student behaviour problems
• To communicate with parents on matters relating to behaviour, uniform and grooming

Responsibilities related to student leadership

• To participate in the selection process for the appointment of student leaders in the Senior School
• To meet regularly with student leaders to assist in the planning of activities, promotion of school spirit and
discussion of issues related to the Senior Schools
• To assist the Dean of Students in the implementation of the leadership program

Professional leadership

• To maintain and develop a practising role in the teaching program

• To provide leadership in pastoral care for the Form Teachers and classroom teachers

• To represent the School at public events and School functions

• To maintain an active involvement in the wider educational community

• To perform any other duties as may be determined by the Principal from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• The appointee must have a graduate degree from a recognised university.

• Previous experience as a teacher at the Senior School level is highly desirable.
