COURSE CODE: IT 108


COURSE TITLE: PC Servicing
PRE-REQUISITE/S: IT 101 and IT 103
CREDIT: 3 Units (2 hrs lec 1 hr lab)
CONTACT HOURS/WK: 5 Hours
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and
attitudes of a computer Service Technician in accordance with
industry standards. It covers competencies such as installing,
maintaining, configuring, and diagnosing computer systems.

CLO 1. Understood the different components of a computer system and how it is associated with different software.
CLO 2. Explained the different issues concerning computer failures, damages and functionalities.
CLO 3. Distinguished the proper ways of handling tools and equipment at work.

CLO 4. Exhibited the ability to correctly assemble, disassemble and install required operating systems and application
software.
CLO 5. Demonstrated ability to troubleshooting and repair faulty computer systems with adding complexities.

VI. CLASS POLICIES

Course Policy:

1. Unless explicitly noted otherwise, the work in this course is to be done independently. Discussions with other students on the assignments should be
limited to understanding the statement of the problems (except when assignments are to be done in groups in which case it is expected of members of the
same group to work together).
2. For a first offense, a student caught collaborating/cheating in any way will receive a zero for the exam/homework/project in question. In the event of a
second offense, the student may be subject to stronger action.
3. Projects that are alike in a substantive way (not due to coincidence) will be considered to be cheating by ALL involved parties.

4. Please protect yourselves by only storing your files in private directories, and by retrieving all printouts promptly.
5. Students are encouraged to attend all lectures, which frequently include material that is not directly taken from the text. If a student misses a lecture, he/she
is still responsible for the material covered and is advised to copy the notes from a classmate.
6. Grades can be appealed up to two weeks after they have been posted; no appeals will be considered after that time.

Late Policy:

1. On-time projects must be received not later the 5:00 PM on the said due date. Any project received after this time will be considered to be LATE.
2. A late assignment will receive a deduction of 10 points if it is up to one day past the deadline and 15 points if it is up to two days past the deadline. An
assignment which is more than 2 days late will be accepted only under special circumstances with the instructor determining the penalty in a fair manner.

Make-up Policy:
Students are expected to be present for all exams and quizzes. Make-up exams will only be given in the event of an emergency and with excuse admission
slip and only if the instructor is informed in advance. Failure to notify the instructor prior to missing an exam will result in a zero for the exam.
