At the end of this lesson the learners will be able to:


1. Identify the concept of global networks;
2. Enumerate and describe the types of global networks; and
3. Evaluate the importance of global networks.

B. Reference: “Global Networks” by Robert J. Holton, Palgrave Mcmillan,
pp. 32-35, 42-46, 77-80

C. Materials: Laptop, projector, pen and paper.

A. Preliminary Activity

Topic: Globalization.
Activity: True or False

Direction: Say True if the statement is correct and say False if the
statement is incorrect.

1. Globalization has its roots in the modern times.


2. Economic need provided the stimulus for Globalization.
3. Globalization may be economic, political and cultural in nature.
4. It is possible for any country today to isolate itself from the outside world.
5. Technological advancement acts as a catalyst for globalization.

Direction: Describe and identify what the following pictures represent.


 Based on your answers in our activity, what is our topic for today?
 Why do you think it is important for us to know about global networks?

B. Presentation of the Lesson

The teacher will show the power point presentation and the learners will be
asked to listen and ask questions.

C. Closing Activities

1. Summary: The teacher will summarize the lesson by asking


the students to re-state the definition of global networks.

What are global networks and why are they important?

Global networks refer to a group of people, communities, and


organizations from different parts of the world linked together
by common goals and objectives. Global networks function
according to the principle of interdependence.

Global networks have enabled not only goods but also people
to freely move from one part of the world to another in pursuit
of better economic opportunities.

2. Generalization

Social discussion: The teacher will ask the students the question:

Based on our discussion on global networks, how do you


think they affect your life and those that you know? Explain by
giving examples from your own experience.

3. Application:

Direction: Ask the students to pick one (1) item they wear/carry and show
their seatmate where the product was made.

Let the students explain how they think this item which was made in another
country was brought into the local market.
V. Evaluation:

Direction: Classify the following according to the type of global network:

V. Assignment

Topic: Continuation of the Lesson

1. Review the lessons on Globalization and Global networks and prepare for a ten-item
(10-item) quiz next meeting.
2. Read the chapter on Global Networks in “Trends, Networks, and Critical Thinking in
the 21st Century by Mariano M. Ariola, Unlimited Books Library Services and
Publishing Inc., pp. 75-83
