1) DESIGN OF ROOF TRUSS FOR CHEMICAL HOUSE BUILDING

Roof Truss is having precoated galvanized sheet on it,

2D-Analysis for typical truss is carried out for dead, live & wind load.

DESIGN OF PURLIN :

DESIGN DATA :

Span of Truss = 14.6 m

Nos of trusses = 7.0

Wind Pressure -

a) Basic wind Speed (Vb) = 50 m/s

b) Risk factor ( K1) = 1.08
c) Terrain factor ( K2) = 1.00
( as applicable for category - 2) for Class A
d) Topography factor (K3) = 1.0

Design Wind Speed (Vz)

Vz = k1 x k2 x k3 xVb
= 1.08 x 1.0 x 1.0 x 50 = 54 m/s

Design wind pressure (pz)

pz = 0.6 Vz2 = 1749.6 N/m

Max. spacing of truss (B) = 5.30 m

DESIGN CALCULATIONS :

(Half Span) For actual configuration refer drg.

α = 11.62 o

Design of purlin -
spacing of purlins s = 1.100 m

Dead load on purlin - (As per IS 875 : Pt I)

As per IS:875 (Part 3), Table 8
Wind Coeff.on roof with roof angle α = 11.62 o

The values of Cp are calcuted by linearly interpolating between ' θ ' = 10 and ' θ ' = 20
as per IS 875 (Part 3) - 1987.
Height of structure (h ) = 6.00 m
Width of structure (w ) = 14.60 m
Ratio h = 0.41

(Refer TABLE 5 - Cpe for Pitched Roof of Rectangular Clad building)

Using IS 875(Part 3)-1987, Clause 6.2.3.2 for internal pressure coefficients:

Consider permeability between about 5% to 20%

Internal pressure coefficient,C pi = -0.50

0.50
Using IS 875(Part 3)-1987,Table 5 : External Pressure Coefficients (C pe) for
pitched roofs of rectangular clad buildings, values obtained are as under;

External Wind Coefficients on roof with θ = 11.62 & h/w < 0.5
