ENHANCING THE ALPHABET KNOWLEDGE OF KINDERGARTEN

PUPILS USING FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Research Paradigm
The research model was based from the Systems Approach of Coombs. The

conceptual model, which is shown in figure 2 on the next page, signifies the three

elements that are essential in designing the input, process and output.

The components of the input are the respondents who are the elementary

school teachers who shall determine the effectiveness of the developed and validated

foldable instructional materials for Kindergarten Pupils. These pupils shall be used as

experimental and control group, which shall undergo pre testing, and post testing

based on the developed and validated foldable instructional materials.

Process refers to the step-by-step manner of doing the research work. It

includes the development of the foldable instructional materials, development and

validation of the pretest and posttest, selection of the experimental and control

groups, administration of pretest, experimentation, administration of posttest, testing

the acceptability of the developed foldable instructional materials and data

processing.

Conceptual Model of the Study on the Development, Validation

And Effectiveness of Foldable Instructional Materials in Enhancing the
Alphabet Knowledge of Kindergarten Pupils
The output is the developed, validated and effective foldable instructional

materials in enhancing the alphabet knowledge of Kindergarten Pupils

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to develop, validate and test the effectiveness of Foldable

Instructional Materials in enhancing the alphabet knowledge of Kindergarten Pupils

in _________ Elementary School, in the District of _______, Division of ______

during the school year 2018-2019.

Specifically, it will answer the following questions:

1. What are the indices of validity and reliability of the researcher-made test of

developed foldable instructional materials?

2. What is the level of performance of the control group and the experimental

group as revealed by the pretest and posttest results with respect to the

following lessons:

2.1

2.2

2.3

3. Is there a significant difference on the level of performance of the control

group and experimental group as revealed by the pretest and posttest results

with respect to the different lessons?

4. Is there a significance difference on the level of performance of the control

group and experimental group as revealed by the posttest results?

5. What is the level of effectiveness of the developed foldable instructional

materials?

6. What is the level of acceptability of the developed foldable instructional

materials as evaluated by experts in terms of:

6.1 instructions;

6.2 discussions;

6.3 pictures used;

6.4 activities; and,

6.5 assessment?

Scope and Limitation

The primary objective of the study is to develop and validate foldable

instructional materials for Kindergarten Pupils.

This study will be conducted at ______ Elementary School during the school

year 2018 – 2019. The subjects of the study will be two sections in Kindergarten

Pupils.

The foldable instructional materials that will be developed is aligned to the

Minimum Learning Competencies for elementary pupils and topics covered are

according to the curriculum of Kindergarten Pupils.

A teacher-made questionnaire test composed of 10 items for each competency

which shall be used in pretest and posttest shall be developed and will undergo

validation. Validation of the material shall be through content and face validity and
will be administered to determine the performance of the Kindergarten Pupils on the

developed foldable instructional materials.

Developmental research cum experimental and descriptive research shall be

employed in this study since the very purpose of the investigation is to construct

foldable instructional materials for Kindergarten Pupils to be validated and test its

effectiveness with the use of questionnaire-checklist.
