The current plague ravaging our culture, the fastest growing addiction in the US, is internet pornography.

Our best defense is a potent

offense. Our Lord said, “Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” The converse is implied, namely, those who are not
pure of heart may not see God. That would be tragic because those who don’t know God don’t know themselves. We are made in
God’s image and likeness. That is the template for knowing ourselves. Our potent offense is purity of heart, a gift from God that we
cooperate in receiving. So, our challenge is to retain, sustain and cultivate “purity of heart.” The question is where do we start. Well,
we pray and ask for guidance. We ask for strength and to be guarded. The current operational definition of guarding the heart is
support. That means surrendering to the Lord and to another human being inside of, and outside of, confession. The key word is
“and.” We need other humans to walk with us in our pursuit of “purity of heart.” We need to be accountable to the Lord and to other
humans. We need to allow others to support us by prudently disclosing our inner and outer activities.

Purity and Isolation

There is good reason to take the topic seriously. For starters, 87% of male youth and about 30% of female youth admit to looking at
internet pornography regularly. Our youth are getting their sex education through internet pornography. This can destroy the
possibility of healthy boy-girl friendships. More than that, family life in the future is jeopardized. The future of our Church rests on
stable, faith-filled and loving marriages, the foundation of loving families. For internet pornography, the great enemy is isolation.
Isolation leads to despondency that leads to despair. Those persons who watch pornography usually do so in private, often thinking
that no one knows and no one is hurt. Of course, this is a lie but the secrecy blinds the person to the Truth. We all need someone to
know the summary of our outer and inner lives, our spiritual father and a trusted friend or two. Perhaps the greatest suggestion in this
little article is that each of us has the humility to disclose, on a very regular basis, the deepest, darkest secrets in our hearts, inside of
and outside of, confession. We need a “soul friend,” a person inside and outside confession who can listen to us non-judgmentally and
thereby lighten our burden. We also need to become such a person for others.

Computer Protection
If we are looking for real support to keep us from internet pornography on the computer, one of the best helps is a software called
Covenant Eyes. With Covenant Eyes, a person subscribes and adds an email address or two of persons who are willing to be
“accountability partners.” Covenant Eyes also supplies a service to cover hand held smart-phones. The person who subscribes to
Covenant Eyes simply supplies the email addresses of the others. The subscriber’s computer is then monitored and a weekly summary
is sent to the email addresses the subscriber supplied. The accountability partners receive a weekly summary of everything the person
viewed on the computer that week. The summary is neatly categorized into clumps of acceptable and unacceptable sites. The
accountability partner, upon finding unacceptable sites visited, might send an email saying something like, “Is there something we
need to talk about?” The process is safe and can be exceedingly helpful.
There is a cost for a Covenant Eyes subscription. The regular cost is $8.99 a month. But, it is possible to attach to an existing group
for $2 a month. For more information about this please contact Dr Rossi at realsimplenow (at) gmail.com. If a person attaches to an
existing group for $2 a month, the only thing the group’s sponsor knows is the mere fact that the person is now a member of the group.
The sponsoring person does not know who the accountability partners are. The sponsoring person does not know any of the internet
activity of the person who joins. The setup is clean and non-invasive. Some persons are literally addicted to internet pornography. For
those persons, the suggestion is to find a local Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) meeting by going to www.sa.org. SA has many members
who have never acted out with another human. Their reason for attending meetings is to stop viewing internet pornography. SA
meetings are closed meetings, unlike AA that has occasional open meetings where non-addicts can attend. SA is for lust or sex addicts
and those who think they may be lust or sex addicts.

Conclusion
We can only continue our life as a person who is “pure in heart” if we are walking this walk with others. Simply put, we can’t do it
alone. The John Wayne approach, that is, rugged individualism, doesn’t work. We need to talk about our behaviors and our
temptations to trusted friends. Married persons can only say so much of this with their spouse, especially temptations about purity.
Yes, it is possible to over-communicate about these issues. In today’s lingo it is called TMI, too much information. The wife can’t
hear that her husband was sorely tempted by a relative at a dinner party. TMI. But, the husband does need to tell that to a trusted
friend, soon thereafter. We might call that trusted friend an “accountability partner.” All this is so countercultural. Our culture is
highly verbal and filled with Reality TV but the culture does not encourage a person to own and share with the Lord and another
human being the temptations of the heart in order to arrive at “purity of heart.” Generally, the culture encourages a disclosure of faults
as a catharsis, a dumping to feel better. Orthodoxy is about doing the Lord’s will, not feeling better. Purity of heart comes to those
who really, really want it. And that means being humble enough to include the support of others in our pursuit of virtue.

Six fluency

Nowadays, we are in a digital world where technologies are superior. People are not used in the traditional way of living. It will be
difficult for them to go back from the past. Teachers in this generation are now implementing the use of technology in the teaching
learning. It is necessary that they study the use of different technology used in instruction so when they teach they at least have
knowledge in how to use it. Also, for the students it is not enough that they just have the 3Rs (reading, writing, arithmetic), they
should adjust with the modern situation is school where students uses technologies as aid of instruction which is said that it gives high
rate of retention. For example by the aid of power point presentation, it is easy for students to learn because they see what the teachers
are talking because in some instance, there are students who have hearing impairment.

Learners should come up with the digital world of information communication technology (ICT) to equip them for success in
the millennial world. For this to be possible, students should develop their digital fluency skills: solution fluency, information fluency,
collaboration fluency, media fluency and creativity fluency. These six digital skills affect the learners when they are using technology.
Solution fluency—since it requires whole brain thinking, students can apply the solution when they encounter a problem in using
technology. Information fluency—it will be easy for learners to access the information. They know how to save, retrieve, reflect and
assess the information they found using technology. Collaboration fluency— learners can collaborate their ideas by sharing ideas or
opinions using social networking and online gaming domains. Media fluency—learners can apply the skills on choosing information
or evaluate the message in a chosen media. They can download helpful research and lesson plan as guide. Creativity fluency—this
skill helps the learners when they are making power point presentation where they can choose appropriate color, font, patterns and
layout. To sum it up, the basic digital skills really affects the learners in using technology which greatly helps them.

SUMMARY:
As teachers adjust their teaching to effectively match the new digital world of ICT, they must be clear on what basic knowledge,
skills and values ( literacy ) need to develop by digital learners. These basic literacy will not replace the 3Rs, but they will
complemented by six essential skills to equip students for success in the millennial world. Rather call them literacy skills these are
better referred to fluency skills. These are solution fluency, information fluency, collaboration fluency, media fluency, creativity
fluency, and digital ethics. In Bloom’s Taxonomy of Thinking Skills can serve as a general framework of skills, a new era of creativity
in the digital world has led to introducing a kind of framework that requires information processing, idea creation and real-world
problem-solving skills.

REFLECTION:

Developing basic digital skills allow us how to use properly different capabilities of the computer and apply these when we will
be teaching in the future. We will be able to impart this to our students, teach them how to gather useful information using the
Internet, and use this information properly in finding solutions on the problems they encounter at the classroom setting, the school,
and in the outside world.

As to the reflection, definitely the six fluency skills are vital to digital learners of today's era. There is a need for the learners as well as
the teachers to acquire and equip these skills in order to adjust and face the overwhelming challenges brought by modern technology
specifically in learning processes. On the contrary, teachers must adjust their teaching to effectively match the new digital world of
information and communication technology (ICT). They should be flexible and creative in searching new ways to efficiently utilize
and develop the basic digital skills which students truly need. Moreover, the new era opens the way for complex and higher cognitive
skills. We as digital learners should not only acquire those digital skills but also we should aim to go beyond with those skills to be
more effective and influence to others especially our future students.

As an application, we future educators must know how to develop these skills to achieve the efficient and effective teaching-
learning process. We should be able to impart this to our students, teach them how to gather useful information using the Internet, and
use this information properly in finding solutions on the problems they encounter at the classroom setting, school, and in the outside
world. Also, for the future generations, we need to adjust our teaching strategies to effectively match the new digital world of
information and communication technology. We have the fluency skills that conveyed ease and facility in acquiring and using them in
which all of them are very influential in an effective teaching-learning process.

UNDERSTANDING TECHNOLOGY LEARNERS

Content:

Today’s learners appear smarter, yet they can’t read as their parents do and they are addicted to the internet. And even during classes
the concentration of the learners are questionable as they are uneasy to simply sit and listen. They become alive again through video
presentations, group activities and computer classes.

In addition, this lesson involves on how to understand the digital learners and what are their benefits in engaging this kind of learners
in technology based instructional Medias. Scientists said that, there are positive benefits derived from the use of information
technology or digital resources and these counterbalance possible negative effects of technology on children.

Experience:

Now a day’s technology is very important in learning in the classroom especially if the teacher will give a lot of requirements
the technology is always in our side. But for children who love technology it is very important that their parents must guide them to
use it properly.

Reflection:
Understanding Technology learners it will help me to understand what is the purpose of technology, that I should use it properly
and I will try my best to remind the young children that they must not use the technology in a wrong way.

As a future teacher it is very important that we always remind our student to use the technology in a right way. Technology is useful
in our lives but it can also make our life miserable.

Lesson 3: UNDERSTANDING TECHNOLOGY LEARNERS

Today’s generation, the learners appearing smarter because they are now involve through computer class and also the learners are now
called digital learners. There is some concern for the new learners that when they are using technology there would be a positive or
negative effects of using it.
Jean Piaget presented a chart that speaks about from childhood where in different ages, they can learn from concrete to abstract
thinking and reasoning. It is important to new learners to meet the feared under development along to the social face to face
interactions skills. True to say that is balance needed the cures changes among this computer age.

Reflection:
As a student I can say that today’s generation the learners are involved in computers skills because some learners feel that the
traditional media is boring to them but I guess from time to time the traditional media is always applicable. A psychologist Jean Piaget
on his traditional chart must be redefined thus as I relate myself from childhood to adulthood that is procedural in learning. Nowadays
at the age of five above are expose in technology and playing video games hence, we are in the world of technology.

Application:
As a future educator, the world will be more high in technology, so i can apply this learning in the near future by using computer to
record all my grades or all my files.

Summary:
This lesson involves on how to understand the digital learners and what are their benefits in engaging this kind of learners in
technology based instructional medias. Scientists said that, there are positive benefits derived from the use of information technology
or digital resources and these counterbalance possible negative effects of technology on children. In addition, daily exposure to high
technology-personal computers, video game gadgets, cellphones, internet search sites-stimulates the brain by strengthening and
creating neural circuits. Furthermore, this current technological revolution is creating an intellectual revolution, faster and better then
ever before.

Reflection:
Understanding Technology learners in really a big advantage for us future teachers. We can be able to know what appropriate
material to use that suits to their abilities and skills. It also help us to maintain the focus and interest of our learners, and in that a case
the learning process become enjoyable for them.
It is also advantageous in the part of the teachers, because it allows them to explore and to discover new instructional material
using technology. It engages them to a more hi-tech and modern kind of learning environment, and it makes their life easier than
before and less hassle.

Introduction:

Educational technology like computer is said to be a big help to many of us because it makes our work easier. as a
matter of fact these new technologies are already changing our lives. it is now possible for us to teach a mute and a deaf student using
this gadget. In that way they will be motivated to learn though they have this inabilities ,it is all because of what this technology can
do to make the learning more fun, not just those people but also those ordinary people.

Summary:

The Education Technology 1 has truly paved the way for the learner to become aware, appreciative and equipped to use educational
technology 1 tools ranging from traditional to modern educational media.
Truly, the foundation for a truly satisfying exposure to educational technology has been firmly laid down by the ET- 1 course,
starting with the through treatment of the history of educational technology, quality education, and the roles of ET in the 21th
millennium.
In ET-1, the learner was also oriented towards averting the dangers of dehumanization which technology brings into societies,
such as through ideological propaganda, pornography, financial fraud, and other exploitative use of technology. Sad to say, these
dangers continue to affect peoples and cultures while widening the gap between rich and poor countries.
On the application of educational technology to instruction. Educational technology 1 showed the four phases of application of
educational technology in teaching- and- learning, namely: (a) setting of learning objectives (b) designing specific learning
experiences (c) evaluating the effectiveness of the learning experiences vis-à-vis the learning objectives, and (d) revision as needed of
the whole teaching-learning process, or elements of it, for further improving future instructional activities.
Adding to the technology sophistication of the learner, educational technology 1 fitting refined the distinction between
educational technology and other concepts, such as instructional technology (which is the use of technology and instruction, different
from school management), educational media (or equipment and materials, apart from the teacher himself), audio

visual aids (or learning media to stir the senses for more effective learning).
In sum, educational technology 1 served:
• To orient the learner to the pervasiveness of educational technology in society.
• To lend familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as media for the avenues teaching-learning process in
this school.
• To uplift the learner to human learning through the use of learning technology.
• To impart skills in planning, designing, using and evaluating the technology-enriched teaching-learning process.
• To acquaint learners on the basic aspects of community education, functions of the school media center, and finally.
• To introduce the learner to what is recognized as the third revolution in education, the computer.

Refection:

Computer should not just be used on playing games, posting nude photos and etc which could deprive other's rights. Rather it
used be used in a correct way. instead of playing online games why dont we google our assignment over the net? of just simply visit
the educational website, in that way we could gain knowledge.

Lesson 2 An Overview: Educational Technology 2

Introduction:

Educational technology gives us a better comprehension of how technology is being integrated to the teaching and
learning process which could make the learning more fun for the students and for the teachers as well. its aim is to engage the students
on a collaborative way with the internet in order for them to learn better because learning is said to be a social activity. one may not
learn alone he needs others to learn more comprehensively.

Summary:

Educational technology 2 is concerned with “Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning.” Specifically this is focused on
introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and extending the knowledge and skills to learners so that they can become exemplary users
of educational technology. Mainly directed to student teachers, also professional teachers who may wish to update their knowledge of
educational technology, it is our goal that this course can help our target learners to weave technology in teaching with software
(computer programmed learning materials) becoming a natural extension of their learning tools.

Necessarily, Educational Technology 2 will involve a deeper understanding of the computer a well as hands-on application of
computer skills. But this is not to say that the goal of the course is to promote computer skills. Rather, the course is primarily directed
at enhancing teaching-and-learning through technology integration.

In essence, the course aims to infuse technology in the student-teachers training, helping them to adapt and meet rapid and
continuing technological changes particularly in the thriving global information and communication technology (ICT) environment.
More specifically, the course objectives are:
• To provide education in the use of technology in instruction by providing knowledge and skills on technology integration-in-
instruction to learners
• To impart learning experiences in instructional technology-supported instructional planning
• To acquaint students on information technology or IT- related learning theories with the computer as a tutor
• To learn to use and evaluate computer-based educational resources
• To engage learners on practical technology integration issues including managing IT classrooms, use of the internet for learning,
cooperative learning through the use of information technology, etc.
• To inculcate higher level thinking and creativity among students while providing them knowledge of IT-related learning theories
While the course is primarily intended for the use of student-teachers, it can also be of great use to professional teachers, school
administrators, teacher educators, and in fact anyone who is interested on how information technology can be used to improve not
only instruction but the school management and curriculum.

It may be said, too, that the study of this course on integrating Information Technology in instruction should not be considered
as a formidable task, but rather as a refreshing and exciting study given the idea that all learning should be fun.

Reflection:

Educational technology is indeed very helpful to us. But it should not be abused nor be used in a wrong way because i believe that
these technologies are not invented to destroy nor to degrade all humanity rather these are being invented to help us in all aspect of our
lives.

Anent to this, students should be taught how to use it properly. But teaching alone may not be enough for them to learn the
teacher should also let their students experience a thing in order for them understand what it is all about.
Lesson 3 - Educational Technology in the Asia Pacific Region
To provide confidence to educators that they are taking the right steps in adopting technology in education, it is good to know that
during the last few years, progressive countries in the Asia Pacific region have formulated state policies and strategies to infuse
technology in schools.
