Technology plays the role of facilitator in educating a student. It enriches the educational
experience providing options that can accommodate students in their quest to learn. Along with
the positive effects of the increase in modern technology, there also comes the negative effect on
our education. When kids have cell phones in their classrooms they are extremely distracted
from what is actually being taught. They are looking down and playing their games or going on
social networking sites instead of listening to their teachers. Students can just look up the
answers to questions and copy them down word for word. When students do this, they do not
actually learn the material. The study aims to assess the academic performance of the students
who are experiencing the use of technology and relate it to the efficiency level of senior high
school management students in the intervention of technology use discipline. Surfing the
internet can be an interest for people. But people need to use it properly. Playing online games
reasonably can make people happy on free time. People also can increase the relationships
between friends by rational use of network. Indisputably, network is a good way to find the
information. But doing anything need moderately. Otherwise it will be bad for people. This
study concludes that technology makes a negative impact to the academic performance of the
students because of the excessive use of technology. But there are some ways to treat the online
addiction. Teachers can prohibit their students to use their gadgets during classes to avoid
distraction. Schools should produce a disciplinarian activity for the students for them to know the
effects of excessive use of technology. Technology is a big help for the people but it is bad if it is
too much.
I. Students' perception on use of technology in the classroom at higher
because unintended consequences can cause disruption in class room and negate the institutional
policies regarding strategic direction and intervention in teaching and learning process. Current
literature on the use of e-learning for teaching focuses on factors which increases the
learning, particularly in regard to developing countries. The present research seeks to fill in this
gap in the research. This research investigates the consequences of the use of technology during
classroom activities in higher education institutions of Philippines when the students are
expected to do class work and attend to their work in the college. These questions were studied
using a survey method of research. The students sample consisted of 221 students from different
state colleges and universities in Caraga region of Philippines. Students' perceptions on positive
and negative consequences were observed. A ranking and frequency analysis method was used to
calculate the consequences observed. The most observed positive consequences were instant
messaging through chatting, lesson enquiry about assignments, sending and receiving e-mails,
research through surfing the net including data gathering by downloading files and sharing
cultural experiences with others through internet. Among the negative consequences listed by
students were accessing social websites like face book, twitter etc. during class work, playing
games, playing music, answering and returning calls and downloading and using copyrighted
material. It is further observed that incidence of positive and negative consequences vary with
the use of technology. The ranking of positive and negative consequences differ in all the three
cases of use of technology - computer with internet, laptop with internet and mobile with
internet. From the frequency analysis of positive, negative and net consequences of use of
technology in class room it is observed that students are most likely to have negative
consequences using mobile with internet. It is concluded that most students in state colleges and
universities in Caraga region in the Philippines are likely to use technology in classroom for the
purpose of positive consequences supporting the view that use of technology helps in enhancing
II. The Positive and Negative Effects on Student Achievement and the Various

Technology is the technical means people use to improve their surroundings. People use
technology to improve their ability to do work. Classrooms around the world have implemented
many forms of technology to enhance student interest and achievement. One form of technology
that is common to math classrooms is the graphing calculator. One eighth grade math class of
nineteen students from an urban middle school was taught a unit on Solving Systems of
Equations by Graphing. The unit was implemented with and without the use of the graphing
calculator. Students were first introduced to the unit through the use of pencils and graph paper.
All the graphing was done by hand and students had to determine the solutions of the systems of
equations by proper graphing techniques. The students were then tested at the end of the unit.
Students were then given the same unit but were now able to use the graphing calculator as a
means to enhance their learning of Solving Systems of Equations through graphing. Students
were then tested again but this time they were able to use the graphing calculator during the test.
Student achievement for the unit had risen and grades on the assessments had increased due to
the presence of technology. Student engagement and interest had also increased due to the
presence of technology.
III. The Negative Effects of Digital Technology Usage on Children’s Development and
Today, children and adolescents are growing up exposed to both traditional and modern
technology. While it is known that the increase in the use of traditional technology, such as
television and its content, have negative effects on children’s development and health, studies
have shown such modern technologies as smart phones, tablets, and computers that have been
developed and become increasingly widespread over the past decade to be beneficial and to
constitute health risks for children. It seems that children’s inappropriate use of such
technological devices in terms of content, duration, frequency, and the posture they adopt while
using them pose a variety of health risks, including developmental problems, musculoskeletal
problems, physical inactivity, obesity, and inadequate sleep quality. This study reviews the
literature on the clinical problems that digital technology use has on children. In order for
children and adolescents to adopt a healthy life style, it is important to monitor the time,
frequency, and content viewed while using technological devices and to ensure that children
have or develop adequate physical activity opportunities, healthy eating habits, proper sleep
