Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate an understanding the interpretation of diagrams, plans and kitchen
layouts.

Performance Standard:
The learners independently interpret kitchen/shop layouts based on given blueprints.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the learner will able to:
 Determine the kitchen layout appropriate for the needs.
 Create kitchen designs based from the basic kitchen layout.

II. Content:

Discuss: Match the picture of different kitchen designs on the layout.
Identify what layout the design of kitchen is.
Reflect: Why It is important to know the different layout of kitchen?

b. Analysis

Kitchen – is the art of the home, where many families spend most of their time together.
Kitchen Layout – It is a blueprint on how your kitchen will function in general.

Basic Kitchen Layout


1. The U-Shaped Kitchen - Named for the "U" shape it resembles, this kitchen is
popular in large and small homes alike.
2. The L-Shaped Kitchen - This kitchen shape is one of the most flexible and most
popular, providing a compact triangle.
3. The Island Option. Islands are extremely popular in homes today and are most
often seen in L-Shaped kitchens.
4. The G-Shaped Kitchen - Built very much like the U-Shaped with the addition of an
elongated partial wall, the G-Shaped kitchen offers a great deal of space.
5. The Corridor/Galley Kitchen - This style kitchen makes the most out of a smaller
space.
6. The Single Wall/Pullman Kitchen - Designed for homes or apartments, the single
wall kitchen offers a very open and airy feel.

Why do we need to know about the basic kitchen layout?

d. Application

Each group are tasked to make / create a 3 minute role play showing a family
deciding on what kitchen design to have in their house. The factors in choosing the
kitchen designs should be evident in each group presentation.

Group

Collect pictures of different types of kitchen. Label each type properly on a 2 x 3 inch
illustration board.
