Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is a
precious promise in God's Word for each of us that says, "He giveth power to
the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength" (Isaiah
40:28). When our power has been depleted, when we feel like we cannot take
another step, there is a word from God that tells us there is more for us. Have
you exhausted every resource and it just seems like there is nothing left to move
forward with? He gives power to the faint! When He comes on the scene there is
a refreshing that only the Holy Spirit can produce. And He freely gives it to us.
One day the Lord entered a ship and the disciples followed Him. While He
slept, they encountered a great tempest, so that the ship was covered with the
waves. The disciples became afraid and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us: we
perish" (Matthew 8:24). Sometimes life has a way of waking us to action! The
only problem was the disciples could not control the storm that had come upon
them. But they knew where to turn! They came to Him who could still the
tempest. And He said something to them that was intriguing. He said unto them,
"Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" In the original writings, it's meaning
is not so much faith as an action word, but faith as a trust in God. Some storms
teach us the answer to the problem is not what we can do about things, but can
we trust God in it? After all, He is the Master of the winds. And the seas and the
waves and the tempests obey His every Word. "Then he arose, and rebuked
the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm." The storm you are going
through will not destroy you. But the Lord is teaching you that you can trust
Him through everything. Job said the thing he feared had come upon him. But in
the end, he acknowledged that the Lord was in control of both the visible and
invisible things of this life. And because he trusted God, the Lord not only
delivered Job but prospered him with twice as much as he had before the
calamities hit his life and family. Job trusted God, not the "things" the Lord
would bless him with. Sometimes we get our eyes on "things," instead of the
Giver of "things." This is why the Bible tells us, "In every thing (each thing, all
things, all manner of things) give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus concerning you" (I Thessalonians 5:18). Notice it doesn't say "for"
everything: it says "in" everything. This is significant because not everything is
good, but while we are in those places of testings and trials and pressing, and
there is really no escape, we give thanks to the Lord for being with us and that
we can trust Him at those times. And He shows up! He arises in the storms to
still the waves and the winds. He brings a calm, a peace that passes
understanding. We find out He really does not leave us or forsake us because He
is in our boat! He does give power to the faint, and increases strength to those
who have no might!
The Scripture in Isaiah goes on to say, "Even the youths shall faint and
be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the
Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isaiah
40:30 & 31). You and I have this promise from the lips of Almighty God: if we
wait or eagerly hope in Him, new life shall sprout up in us. It doesn't matter how
young or old you are. This promise is to all. Even if your time on earth is short,
there is no reason for us to give up and throw in the towel. When this life is over
our new life with Jesus Christ has just begun! It is said, "What lays before the
believer is far greater than what is behind us."
If you don't have a church I invite you to ours. Our schedule of services is
Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm, and Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Place your faith, hope,
and trust in Christ Jesus today. You will never regret that decision! May God
bless you!

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
