Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

• Activity goes with the standard.
• Allows the students to be interactive.
• Keeps students engaged.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The students will begin by being engaged in a lesson over organisms vs. non-living objects. The students will
then create a T-chart of the different organisms and non-living objects. The students will use this T-chart as
they do the Kahoot!. I will introduce the Kahoot! as a fun way to review what we have learned. I will show
them how to use it as we do a sample one found on the website.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Student Response and Assessment Tools
The students will begin the game/quiz on the computer. The teacher will read out the question and the
answers to the class and allow them to pick the answer they believe fits best. The only materials needed
would be the T-chart that was created during the lesson and a computer. This activity should last about 5-10
minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
This SRT is being used as a review of what we went over during the lesson. I find it important for the students
to know the correct answer of each question because of it being a review to see what each student knows.
This gives the students an opportunity to ask questions and try to understand what they are not
understanding.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
The teacher will ask the students what they thought of Kahoot!. The teacher will then look over the data to
see if anything needs to be retaught, or what students need extra help on.
How will the data be used?
The teacher will use this data to see if anything needs to be retaught. The teacher will also be able to see
what students need help and what students fully understand the content. The teacher will be able to create
groups to do one on one time with to reteach a few things that are shown to be misunderstood.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I have never used Kahoot! in my class before. I am hoping that this catches the students’ attention and helps
them stay engaged through out the lesson. I hope this keeps them involved and excited. I plan on using this
SRT often as a way to assess my students.
Reflective Practice:
I feel as if this activity would help students. It is a fun way to review and it doesn’t even feel like it’s a quiz.
This will keep the students excited and ready to participate in the lesson. I do plan on using this often to
assess the students and to see what they are understanding. I hope this is something that the students love to
do and will look forward to doing it.
