Litho Scanner

Litho Scanner high-definition spectroscopy service revolutionizes gamma ray spectroscopy for the detailed
description of complex reservoirs. In addition to measuring more key elements in a wide variety of rock formations
with higher precision and accuracy than previously possible, Litho Scanner service provides a stand-alone
quantitative determination of total organic carbon (TOC).

The high-output pulsed neutron generator (PNG) and unique cerium-doped lanthanum bromide (LaBr3:Ce) gamma
ray detector enable the Litho Scanner tool to measure both inelastic and capture spectra for an expanded set of
elements from that of previous-generation spectroscopy tools.
In carbonates the precise Mg measurement resulting from the complementary inelastic and capture yields is used to
accurately differentiate calcite from dolomite at standard logging speeds. The improved S measurement supports the
quantification of anhydrite from calcite.
TOC and kerogen content for shale plays are computed by subtracting the amount of inorganic carbon (IC)
associated with carbonate minerals from the total inelastic measurement of C. This stand-alone TOC output, based
solely on direct measurements by Litho Scanner service, is presented as a continuous wellsite log, independent of
the environment and reservoir. The biases introduced by conventional models and the delay in waiting for laboratory
sample analysis are eliminated.
Dielectric Scanner (ADT)

Dielectric Scanner multifrequency dielectric dispersion service directly measures water volume and rock textural
information to deliver

 hydrocarbon volume in carbonates, low-resistivity or low-contrast shaly andlaminated sands, and heavy
oil reservoirs
 water salinity
 continuous log of the Archie mn exponent in carbonate formations
 cation exchange capacity (CEC), accounting for clay volume.

No longer do you have to wait for laboratory core analysis or accept the uncertainty inherent in estimated Archie
parameters. The wait for accurate formation evaluation is over.
Dielectric Scanner dielectric dispersion service constructs a high-resolution radial profile of the near-borehole region
that provides new and unique information on fluid distribution and rock properties for advanced petrophysical
interpretation. Previously, multifrequency dielectric permittivity measurements were conducted only in core
laboratories. Now available at the wellsite for use in conjunction with traditional logging measurements, Dielectric
Scanner service enables developing a more accurate reservoir description for reservoir evaluation and management.
Determining oil saturation from logging with Dielectric Scanner service bypasses the reservoir conditions that can
make the results of resistivity-based formation evaluation ambiguous. The insensitivity of the measurement to water
salinity, oil viscosity, the clay content of the formation, and borehole quality enables correctly differentiating
hydrocarbon-bearing zones from those that are freshwater-wet. In addition, the high resolution measurements made
by Dielectric Scanner service are not biased by thin beds.
XL-Rock

XL-Rock large-volume rotary sidewall coring service closes the gap between core plugs from continuous conventional
core and wireline-conveyed rotary sidewall cores by retrieving up to fifty 1.5-in-OD by 2.5-in-long sidewall core
samples in a single descent. These large-volume core samples deliver a rock volume equivalent to conventional core
plugs, matching the industry’s standard sample size for routine (RCAL) and most special core analysis (SCAL)
measurements with delivery in less time and at lower cost than conventional coring.

At more than 3 times the rock volume of standard 0.92-in-diameter sidewall cores, XL-Rock service’s sidewall core
samples recover a sufficient volume of rock to extract three triaxial minicores for full analysis of completion quality,
which previously required conventional coring.
