Project Implementation Plan

The project implementation plan of the fourth – year student nurses of Ateneo de Davao
University batch 2020 had reported the scale of ranking the health conditions of the community
exposure at Sitio PogiLawis, Barangay Daliao, Toril, Davao City. During the first day dated June
24, 2019 the class BSN 4A traveled by bus from the school to the Barangay Daliao, Toril, Davao
City. Together with their clinical instructor, the student nurses had their courtesy call to the old
Puericulture center which is now the new barangay health center. After, the class went to the
barangay hall to also have a courtesy call to the barangay captain and the assigned barangay
health worker (BHW) of the group that would help them during ocular survey and house
numbering. They heard that the BHW is not in the barangay hall, so they decided to go to the
area. Sadly, the group’s BHW and was not there and so they when back to the Daliao barangay
hall. Unfortunately, their clinical instructor and the group found out that the chosen Sitio Lawis
that they visited was not a part of Barangay Daliao, but is part of Barangay Lizada. After going
to Barangay Lizada, their clinical instructor decided to have their lunch in Dimple’s Lechon
House. When the meals where consumed and the group was satisfied with their meal. They
traveled back to school and had a post-conference and a team building.

On the second day, dated June 25, 2019, the group waited for the barangay health worker,
Victoria Epis, at the barangay hall of Barangay Dalio, Toril, Davao City. While waiting, the
group with their clinical instructor decided to discuss on what to do when they arrive in the
assigned Sitio, which is Sitio PogiLawis. When the BHW arrived, she guided the group during
the first ocular survey and showed them around the sitio. The group found a nice place to
conduct their first meeting in DAPOLFA Association. After finding the place, the group had their
posters posted to let the residents be informed about the said activity. After, the clinical instructor
decided to let the group clean the place since they will be the one who will use it for the span of
three weeks. When everything’s set, the clinical instructor planned a lunch with the group where
they will be the one who will cook. Each group members where assigned a task such as going to
the wet market, grilling the food, preparing and washing the dishes, etc. for their lunch, and
when everything’s set they all ate and had their after care. After their lunch, they sat together and
made their anecdotal.
On the third day, dated June 26, 2019, this is when the group first conducted the general
assembly with # of adults and # of children as participants. While waiting for the program to start
at 9 o’clock, the boys did the spot map of Sitio PogiLawis to maximize the time given while half
of the girls were preparing the place and the other half invited people to join the said assembly.
The assembly’s the goal is first to identify the key persons to become core group members and
leaders. Fortunately, majority of the participants referred to appoint core group members as their
core group leaders. The student nurses conducted a community reflection or awareness about the
current problems in the Sitio. Simultaneously with the program, the interested residents had their
bp’s, height, weight, sugar & albumin in the urine being checked. After identifying the core
group leaders, survey forms were distributed and explained. At the end of the program, snacks
were served.

On the fourth day of exposure dated July 1, 2019, the group traveled to the sitio to have
their data collection. Half of the group collected, while the other half did the spot map and house
numbering of Sitio Pantalan, since the people in the said sitio were also active during the general
assembly held last June 26, 2019. After, the group conducted a health teaching for the children in
PogiLawis Day Care Center. The topics conducted were about hygiene and food groups (Go,
Glow, Grow). Under the topic hygiene, the subtopics proper brushing of the teeth, proper
bathing, and proper washing of hands were taught by some group members. At the end of the
day, they had their evaluation and planned the activity for the next day.

On the fifth day, dated July 2, 2019, the core group traveled back to the sitio and
continued their data collection, spot mop, and house numbering. Their clinical instructor decided
to have their lunch cooked by the group, so, two of the members along with the clinical
instructor went to the wet market and bought meat and other ingredients for their lunch. When
the day ended, they planned their activity for the next day thus time won’t be wasted.

On the sixth day, dated July 3, 2019, the group met at the barangay hall and prepared for
another health teaching. While waiting for the time, some of the group members traveled back to
the sitio to continue collecting their data while the others and their clinical instructor stayed at
the barangay hall and planned carefully for their health teaching. They practiced a dance of
proper hand washing. This is to let the children easily remember on how to properly wash their
hands. After their first presentation, they immediately went to Purok 6, Barangay Crossing
Bayabas, Toril, Davao City to conduct another teaching and to monitor the status of the previous
community where the Ateneo Nursing students had their COPAR Related Learning Experience.
The group met the core group leader and asked to evaluate the health status of the community. At
the end, light snacks were served to the participants. The group decided to have their lunch break
at Barangay Crossing Bayabas’ barangay kagawad’s carenderia, just like the old times. Later that
day, the group traveled back to Sitio PogiLawis and Sitio Pantalan to continue their data
collection.

On the seventh day, dated July 8, 2019, the group had their call time at 7 am the group
decided that this day was about making and preparing their final preparations for the culmination
day. To start, they traveled back to Sitio PogiLawis to collect and transfer some recorded survey
questionnaire file from the phone to paper. While others were collecting, some members were
busy accommodating residents in having their blood pressure’s checked. After everything’s set,
they decided to have their lunch at school since their clinical instructor had a meeting. There,
they prepared and made their final preparations for the culmination day and made their spot map
of Sitio Pogi Lawis.

On the eighth day, dated July 9, 2019, was their culmination day. It would start with a
prayer, followed by the opening remarks, a brief and concise discussion of the survey results,
and then snacks would be served. Closing remarks would follow and giving of gift certificates.

On the ninth and last day of COPAR exposure, dated July 10, 2019, the group would
present their case presentation to their clinical instructor at school for the whole day.
