Title of Research Project
Successful integration of a sustainable Computerized Maintenance Management System or
CMMS into a reactive based maintenance strategy.
Brief description of the project
(Include project aim and where the research will be carried out)
What are the requirements for successfully integrating a successful and sustainable CMMS into
a reactive based maintenance strategy into a manufacturing company at its infancy of
operation? .These requirements of integrating a CMMS into a reactive maintenance strategy
will be carefully evaluated and explored in the research paper through surveys through emails
and in the manufacturing plant setting.
Who will be the participants?
(Don't name individuals or organisations, but state approximate numbers)
Senior management, operations management and maintenance technicians of a manufacturing
company at the infancy of its operation from its formal date of operation. Jacobi Carbons
Philippines is a manufacturing company that has been in operation for four years since it has
started its full capacity operation of 15,000 MT per annum with 300 regular employees.
Methods
(E.g. interviews, surveys, observations, etc. Provide a clear summary, and for surveys or interviews information
about topics to be covered).
A quantitative research method will be used in the research methodology. Historical data will
be analysed and interpreted to verify the current status of implementing the maintenance
strategy in the organisation. A self-administered survey form will then be distributed to non-
random participants using a quota sampling method. The survey form will be used to verify any
inconsistencies between the historical data analysis to actual practices in the manufacturing
company.
Industries or groups who will be contacted or involved (even if they will not be
participants). Do not name individuals or companies specifically as this will breach confidentiality. (e.g. 5 staff
at a local IT company)
Jacobi Carbons Philippines Employees, Country Manager and senior managers, Maintenance
management and staff, Operations Managers and plant operators
Ethical considerations. If you will have human participants, state how you will address ethical principles
such as confidentiality, informed consent, right to withdraw. If applicable, please state whether you have Animal
Ethics approval
The research will involve online web surveys which will be initiated by explaining in appropriate
detail the purpose and the objective of the research to selected participants for the interview.

The participants will be emailed prior to answering the survey with a one-page project
information sheet that outlines the details of the study.
This will include the following information:
1. Purpose and objective of the study, how the research results will be disseminated and
used.
2. The project information sheet will also include information on the contact details of the
researchers.
3. The information sheet will also include a simplified process for withdrawal of
participation during the course of the research project.
4. A statement of how participants confidentiality will be exercised during the information
gathering and results in dissemination.
5. The information sheet will also include a consent form which will be filled out by
participants prior to the start of answering the survey.

Participants will be assigned with a unique identifier code to ensure personal identifiers are not
attached to the participants and thus protecting their confidentiality. These data will then be
saved in an external drive protected with a password known only to me, as the researcher.

On hand, historical data from the company from its three-year operation after the start of
commercial operation will then be examined and analysed for maintenance strategy practices.
The aim of this part is to evaluate whether the reactive maintenance strategy used by the
company is effective in gathering correct maintenance historical records of breakdown and
repairs.

The results of the research and feedbacks will be presented to the organization by an updated
email allowing them to view the project every step of the research process.
