Rules and Regulations

Recruitment to posts in BS-17 for the following Groups/ Service
under the federal Government.
Commerce & Trade Group
Pakistan Administrative Services
Foreign Service of Pakistan
Information Group
Inland Revenue Service
Military Lands & Cantonments Group
Office Management Group
Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service
Pakistan Customs Service
Police Service of Pakistan
Postal Group
Railways (Commercial & Transportation) Group

Place of Examination
CSS examinations are conducted in the following cities of
Pakistan: Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, D.I. Khan,
Faisalabad, Gilgit, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi,
Lahore, Larkana, Multan, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Quetta,
Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Sukkur.

The Competitive Examination comprises the


following :

 Written Examination,
 Medical Test,
 Psychological Test; and
 Viva Voce

Age Limits
21 to 30 years
The age limit for candidate applying for CSS Exam is 21 to 30
years. The age limitis relaxed by two years (making 32 years as
maximum age) for candidates currently serving as government
employee or belonging to recognized tribes and areas.

Education

A candidate must hold at least a Second Division or Grade “C”


Bachelor’s degree in any faculty of one of the Pakistani
Universities or an equivalent degree or comparable educational
qualifications of a foreign University recognized by Higher
Education Commission,

A candidate who has obtained a Third Division(or ‘D’ grade) in


his/her Bachelor’s Degree will be eligible for the Examination in
cases where he/she has obtained a higher Division in Master’s
Degree.

The matter as to which foreign degree is comparable and


equivalent to corresponding Pakistani degree shall be decided by
HEC. Therefore, an equivalence certificate issued by HEC may be
attached with application form.

Total Marks: 600

Optional Subjects:

(subjects carrying a total of 600 marks to be selected)


Group A

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.


Note: Business Administration cannot be opted in combination with Public
Administration

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.

Group F

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.


Note: International Law CANNOT BE opted in combination with International
Relations.

Group G

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.

Group H (Regional Languages)

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.


Regional Languages: Not more than one of the 4 subjects can be opted.

1. Sindhi 100

4. Blochi 100

Group I:- (National and Foreign Languages)

Subjects carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted.


National/Foreign/Classical Languages: Not more than one of 4 subjects can be opted.
Note: Urdu can not be combined with Regional Languages.

Passing Criteria
Compulsory subjects: 40/100
Optional Subjects: 33/100
In Total: 600/1200
Viva Voice: 150/300
One have to obtain 600 Marks and pass all subject to get Interview Call.
and in Viva Voice one must need 50% marks to get Allocation.
