Pg.5
INTRODUCTION
In this project (Family Survey) it dealswith Statistics and Consumer
Arithmetic more specifically tally charts, bar charts, pie charts and
averages. In addition to NIS deductions.

In order to select the families to answer the questionnaires, the

surveyor made sure that there were families that were all nuclear
and willing to cooperate to answer the questionnaires.

PIE CHART Commented [hb5]: You will need 4 pie charts to
accurately represent the data from the 4 budgets.

Pie chart showing the average monthly spending of a family

with an income less than $60,000 and has 1 child

Bills $10,000 Food $15,000 Clothes $4000

School expenses $8000 Medical expenses $5000 Fun & entertainment $5000
Other expenses $5000

ANALYSIS OF DATA
Total No. of families and children within each income range
Amt. of Families
Less than $60,000 – Five (5)
Between $60-$150,000 – Six (6)
Between $150,000-$250,000 – Nine (9)
Over $250,000 – Five (5)
Amt. of children
Less than $60,000 – Twelve (12)
Between $60,000-$150,000 – Fifteen (15)
Between $150,000-$250,000 -Twenty- six (26)
Over $250,000 – Fifteen (15)

AVERAGE NO. OF CHILDREN FOR EACH RANGE

Less than $60,000 – 2.4
Between $60,000-$250,000 - 2.5
Between $150,000-$250,000 – 2.8
Over $250,000 – 3

USING THE BUDGET TO PROJECT SPENDING FOR THE AVERAGE

NO. OF CHILDREN IN THE INCOME RANGES
To find this multiply the average no. of children times the total budget
Less than $60,000 : $124,800
Between $60,000 -$150,000 :$205,000
Between $150,000 - $250,000 : $439,600
Pg.11
Over $250,000 :$699,000
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE BUDGET AND THE INCOME RANGE
BUDGET INCOME DIFFERENCE IN/OUT MEANS

$52,000 $50,000 $2000 Out their means

$82,000 $85,000 $3000 In their means

$157,000 $150,000 $7000 Out their means

$233,000 $225,000 $22,000 In their means

Two families are within the family’s means while two families are also outside
the family’s means.

Pg.12
DISCUSSION, FINDING & RECOMMENDATIONS
93% = Income Net
100 = Income 100
93
= the amt. of money income that should be earned to meet all the needs
including NIS.

Family 1
Income =$52,000 The least amount of income that should be earned to meet
the needs of the family is $55,913.

Family 2
Income =$82,000 The amount of money that should be earned is $88,172.
Family 3
Income= $155,000 The amount of money that should be earned is $161,290.
Family 4
Income=$255,000 The amount of money that should be earned is $274,190.

From this, I think that families should really save more because there are
many needs to meet at the end of a month.

Two things that can be done for persons living outside their means are:
*Avoid shopping for unnecessary things that families don’t need.
*Start saving or join a saving society\group.

Pg.13
CONCLUSION
Here we have found out how many families actually spend according to their
budget or not. We have seen families that spend more than what they earn
and families that need to save more.
