SCHOOL-BASED NATIONAL DRUG EDUCATION PROGRAM

“KABARKADA KONTRA DROGA”

Objectives:

At end of 4-day School-based National Drug Education Program

the students should be able to;

1. Inculcate deeper awareness on illegal drugs such as

abuses and negative effect to human body;
 2. Provide students with opportunity to learn and exchange
ideas on illegal drugs;

3. Internalize desirable values as embodied in schools rules

and regulations in promoting the war against illegal
drugs; and

4. Encourage students to participate in proactive

campaign against illegal drugs lead by the school and
participated by the community.

Expected Number of Participants: 80 Students

NARRATIVE REPORT

1. Rationale:
Pursuant to Section 43 of Article IV of R.A. No. 9165
otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs
Act of 2002”, the Department of Education reiterates its
support to the National Drug Education Program (NDEP)
with the school head fully responsible for its effective
implementation.

The NDEP is a comprehensive educational

program which provides for a holistic approach to the
problem of drug abuse. It was designed to enable all
sectors to work collaboratively, with the school system as
the core, thereby, unifying all sectorial endeavors.

It has five (5) components: a) curriculum and

instruction; b) co- curricular and ancillary services; c)
teacher/staff development; d) parent education and
 community outreach; and e) research, evaluation and
monitoring. It is implemented in schools to create
awareness on the ill effects of abusing drugs and to
develop among students’ positive behavior and life skills to
resist drugs. References on NDEP may be made to several
department issuances – DECS Memorandum No. 62, s. 1988,
DECS Memorandum No. 388, s. 1995, DECS Memorandum
No. 499, s. 1997, and DECS Memorandum No. 277, s. 1997.

2. Narration of Accomplishments:

1. Intensifying anti-drug abuse information campaigns through

symposium and jingle making;

2. Supporting the activities planned by the designated school

organization such as Boy Scout and Girl Scout and NDEP
Programs together with NDEP Core Group composed by
selected students to lead their schoolmates in war against
illegal drugs;

3. Involving PTAs and student organizations in drug abuse

prevention activities;

4. Creation of NDEP Corner of the school, that serves as

information gateway about illegal drugs awareness;

5. Mobilizing all scout leaders to integrate drug abuse prevention

in the training of scouts utilizing the Drug Abuse Prevention;

6. Integration of NDEP Modules in the designated grade levels in

Araling Panlipunan ang MAPEH subjects; and
