Statement of Purpose

To be engaged in incessant learning process and the appropriate acquisition of knowledge

and experience only can make out a successful career. With the same aspiration I want myself to get
an opportunity to be the part of a well identified institute in the journey to facilitate my studies. To
gain a deeper insight into my choice, I select the area of Software Industry to satisfy my passion to
see the practical aspect of my knowledge and skills. I think it is a wise decision, thus by knowing
what skills a corporate software engineer possesses and where I lack those. In a world where
technology advances daily, I am in need of sophisticated training beyond my degree and knowledge.

The determination to become an IT Professional rooted in my mind at the time spent in

Gowtham Concept School. Computer lab was the place where I use to keep myself drowning in the
world of fascination. With the same spirit I always performed well in academics which helped me to
join intermediate, where I got the confidence that I am good at problem solving and have good
analytical skills.

My Engineering days were focused on the interest in practicing programming languages and
software. My mini project was ‘COMEX-Android App’ where I developed a mobile application
using the android platform. With interest in learning new concepts and innovative ideas I
participated in an IEEE exhibition on E-SCIENTIA, which proved to be highly beneficial. This
made me opted for a project apart from my academics as directed by one of my professors. I did my
main project on “Robust Face Name Graph Matching for Movie Character Identification”,
which is an IEEE project. The objective was to identify the faces of the characters in the video and
label them with the corresponding names in the cast. The textual clues like cast list, scripts, subtitles
and closed captions are usually exploited. This occurrence provides lots of movie index and
retrieval, scene segmentation and many other applications.

It is true that my academic performance has taken me a back seat in first two years of my
undergraduate course. This is due to my rigorous involvement into sports and other co-curricular
activities. I have patched it up with a markedly improved performance in last two years of under
graduation. When considered semester wise, it show how I bettered each semester consistently with
my performance reaching its peak in final year. More over my dream of studying in a U.S university
propelled me to come out with an inspiring performance in GRE.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” –Mahatma
Gandhi. Having read this sometime back in my school days I have developed a strong desire to help
build the society in a cogent way. I made no delay in volunteering. I was a part of a team which
conducted a camp on empowering rural citizens by educating them about government schemes and
motivating them to apply for voter ID cards. A satisfaction of giving something back to the society,
the interaction with locals and professionals at various levels helped me grow personally as well as
professionally. Being a Member of Computer Society of India (CSI) student chapter I have
conducted many events under the CSI guidelines and won their accolades. I also organized an event
called Tech Tambola and was one among the members who designed the Acumen CS-fest logo and
also awarded first prize in the event “CLICK” conducted as a part of Acumen-CS fest in Vasavi
College of Engineering.

I was motivated by my professors and seniors when I mentioned my interest and I am

emoted to select U.S for my higher studies which will take me to the opportunity to share that most
academically advanced community. Masters course will give me the specialized knowledge and
exposure and will also boost up my career. My intension to be expertise in the right way in the top of
perfection and dedication took me to the decision to have my Masters in Computer Science from a
reputed institution which would give me a new style of learning with international standards put me
the selection of the university----. I found the course structure, infrastructure and research at your
university is rhythmic to my interests. Given a chance, I am assertive to capitalize on my potential to
the ultimate. I am confident that my academic standards, desire, strong motivation, leadership skills,
decision making and positive attitude with the help of the university’s graduate program, I will be a
noteworthy patron to the research endeavors at the university.

Expecting that you will share my sense of purpose and give me an opportunity to continue
with my further studies at your esteemed university. While concluding I would like to say that I want
to advance myself, as the world around me is dynamic and full of change and innovations.
