86480 EXTERNAL SYNC UNIT ALARMS


„ A, B/C, LINE-L, LINE-R (Red)
ª Steady: The respective port’s input is enabled and the received
signal is invalid (e.g. LOS, phase loss, frequency alarm etc. ).
ª Flashing: The respective port’s input is enabled and the received
signal is being validated.
„ HOLDOVER LED Flashing
ª The unit is in Holdover mode. All provisioned sync inputs are
bad. The unit tries to preserve the last received clock and times
the node with it.
„ ALARM (Red)
ª Steady: The unit is in alarm (e.g. paddleboard missing, high
temperature, Xilinx failed to load, etc. ).
ª Flashing: The unit is in Standby mode and it validates the timing
signal provided by the companion unit.
„ All LEDs flashing at 2 Hz rate
ª The unit is in SLEEP mode and is forced to Standby operation.
The unit can be forced to enter or leave the sleep mode using
VistaNET software.

ª TIF Errors (TIF Transmit, TIF Receive, Bad SONET Receive, TIF
Receive CRC-8 Errors)
ª Duplicate Site ID (Local Site ID observed elsewhere on the
ring).

ª A failure in the network’s connectivity around the ring, i.e. the left-to-right
and/or the right-to-left path around the ring is affected;
ª An atypical behavior has been detected on one or more of the enabled
Ethernet drop ports, such as
„ Link Integrity Pulses are missing on RJ-45 ports
„ Fiber ports are not receiving a good optic power level
„ Reception of errored frame (FCS/CRC error)
„ Excessive collisions event (declared after 16 unsuccessful attempts to retransmit a
frame)
„ Late collision
„ Reception of an “illegal-length” frame (>1536 bytes, or with an "alignment" error)
