Effect of site location on design

Figure 1 the location of project site (Google, 2018)

The location of the project site will influence the design of building. In urban area, each
building had it characteristic and unique from each other to attract people or customer.
Therefore design is important and will determine the flow of people in this building. If the site
is situated at location with many high-rise building, there is tendency to compete with the
existing building. This competitive nature to attract attention may cause the practical and
economical aspect of the building to be ignored. (Sam, 2017)

Based on figure 1, the project site is far from urban area. Thus the design can be not
complicated or unique as the surrounding of project site is not surround by high rise-building
or shopping mall. This site location has access to MRR2 easily which cause buyer or investor
will choose this place if is a residential building while shopping mall can attract more people
as easy to get access to mall.

The location of the project will influence its cost. High value sites attract high value
developments and it is inappropriate to locate low value projects on valuable sites. Local
development plans will constrain what can be built on such sites in any case. In general, urban
locations are more expensive than their rural equivalents due to higher local wages, costs
associated with access constraints, material storage, and the additional security measures
required. Cost of transportation for workmen, equipment, materials, tools will increases with
distance and adds to the project cost. (Sam, 2017)
Based on figure 1, the site located between Kepong and Ampang. It is quite far from
city centre of Kuala Lumpur. Therefore, the cost of transportation will be lesser compare to
urban area. The cost for transportation of material and labour can be reduced if the supplier
from Kepong or Ampang.
