Teacher : Okay, Assalamualaikum wr. wb

Students : Waalaikumsalam wr. wb

Teacher : First of I would like to introduce my self before, my name is Muhammad


Shalehudin. In this nice occasion I would like to present my lesson plan
about introducing self formal and informal and the level of the study in
Senior High School, subject English, class ten, semester one, language
skills or components speaking and writing, the genre is introducing self
formal and informal, the time is one point therty. Oke in this lesson I have
task for you before I explain about the material.

Teacher : Okey can you guest what we will learn today?

Students : Introducing self.

Teacher : Introducing self? Oke. Did you know before in this lesson you know
about the material before? About the introducing self?

Students : No.

Teacher : No? Oke. Before that I will tell you about my lesson objective. My
lesson objective is first by analysing the social function, the structure of
the text and linguistict element in identify exposure text. And the second
by knowing the social function, the structure of the text and linguistic
element in the identifying axposure text the students are able to make the
identify axposure text formal and informal situation. And the third by
guessing the meaning of identifying axposure text the students are able to
introduce their self oraly and in the writen form in the formal and informal
situation.

Teacher : Oke. We go to first session. I have a video watch and listen carefully.
And you should find the point from the video.

Teacher : Wait. Wait a minute.

Teacher : Sorry something trouble.

Teacher : Oke please watch the video.

Teacher : Do you have got something from the video?

Students : Yes.

Teacher : What have you got?

Students : Formal and informal.

Teacher : Can you find the formal form from this video?

Students : Yes.

Teacher : Oke what is it? What is it? The statement this is my board Mr.Wiliam.
This is formal form or informal?

Students : Formal.

Teacher : Formal? This is formal form. Informal form sorry.


ANALYSIS FUNCTIONAL

 Field (Language for expressing ideas)


- Everyday, concrete and spescific fields/ topics - shared by all
- Specialiced fields/ topics—share by some
- Highly technical and abstract fiellds/ topic share by few eexperts.

Who or what is taking part (People, place, things, concepts, etc.)

What is going on (processes, activities, behavior or states of being)
Find, watch, got, wait, make guessing, explain, present, speaking, writing, listen, know,
tell, introduce.

The detail of surrounding these events (where, when, how, with what, etc.)
In Senior high school, the first, the second, the third.

 Tenor (Relationship between teacher and students)


- Informal annd familiar relaationship between speaker and listener/ reader and
writer
- Increasing formality relationshi between speaker and listener/ reader and writer
- Formal and informed relationship between spear and listener/reader and writer
Analysis the tenor based on the transcript above:

I think school do not do tenor well. The relationship between the author and the
audience is essential is what words you choose and in this dialogue the teacher did not
do it well.

= Formal situation

How the text is constructed, particularly whether it is written-like or spoken-like. Most
spoken – spontaneous, informaal and concrete comuniaation of shared information.
Rrecountting aand reporting – spoken txts written out or wrritn text spoken out. Most
written preies, planned, edited organised, formal and coherent, lexically dense..

 Modality
In modality, we can use it to temper out position in terms of:
a. Probably and frequency
b. Obligation and inclination

Analysis the modality based on the transcript above: Would, can, will, guess ,
should,

Conclusion :

Teacher in this dialogue did not use the language accurately. In formal situation we should
use formal language and school is one of formal institute. Teacher also give more
information without giving the students more chaange to express their ideas.
