DIFFERENCES IN PEOPLE and CHALLENGE TO HGC

Where do you want your life to be … next month/year? It’s up to you.

[These are notes taken from a message by Dr. Mike Murdock]

PROSPERITY is having enough $ to complete your assignment from God.

SUCCESS is continuous attaining of a worthwhile goal.
PROSPERITY STARTS WITH A DECISION, AND CONTINUES WITH YOUR SAYING, “I’M
GOING TO DO IT!”

WRITE DOWN a goal, anything you want to become, experience, top 10 dreams,
anything you want to do. Take a pen and write them down. The moment you write
down your goals, YOU CHANGE. Your goals choose your mentors, your focus, who are
willing to listen to, who are your friends and adversaries. You can’t know what’s
unnecessary until you write down your goals.

God can’t do anything until you verbalize your desires.

This will move you into the top 3% of people in the world. Only 3% of people write
down their goals. In America, 3% of the people own as much real estate as the other
97% percent combined!

You must instruct and command your imagination to produce pictures of the future.
It’s not saved….it will produce anything … good or bad, so you have to instruct it.

ONE DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE IS HOW THEY INSTRUCT THEIR IMAGINATION.

2 PARTS OF THE GOSPEL

The Person of Jesus – Creates your peace. Prepares you for eternity
The Principles of Jesus – Create your prosperity. Prepares you for life on earth.

Psalm 112:1 – “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord …wealth and riches will be in his
house…”

Some have never discovered the true Godly principles of prosperity.

Many think God is in control of everything. If this is true, explain abortion.
This is why Jesus said to, “Pray Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…”
When I quote God, I’m NEVER WRONG!

A. Create the right WORD PATH in your life.

B. Don’t say anything NEGATIVE about yourself. Your new identity is in CHRIST.
C. Don’t become your own enemy…you already have enough enemies
D. We stab ourselves so often with words we say about our self.

I THE DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE

A. WHAT THEY’RE WILLING TO CHANGE ↑↑

1. Routine, Food you eat, geographically, vocabulary, focus,

2. Zaccheus climbed into a tree…his friends took the roof off the house so he
could see Jesus

B. WHAT THEY’RE WILLING TO WALK AWAY FROM

1. Abraham – the comforts of his family
2. Ruth – the comforts of her own relatives to stay close to Naomi
3. Samson wouldn’t walk away from Delilah
4. Joseph walked away from Potiphar’s wife…it eventually got him the
throne.
5. The cost of your future is that you must walk away from something you
don’t want to walk away from.

C. WHOSE FAVOR THEY VALUE MOST

1. Whose favor matters to you the most?

2. Sit close in the front of every service, conference meeting, etc. [GOD’S!]
3. If you’re easy to correct, it’s b/c that person’s favor matters to you [a
parent, etc.]

D. THE TIME THEY’RE WILLING TO INVEST ALONE WITH GOD

1. God’s conversation with you will change when you’re with Him in private,
verses in church, etc. God’s vocabulary changes.

2. Spend time alone with God…your emotions will change, your home will
change.

E. THEIR CURIOSITY

1. What do you want to learn the most about?

2. What subject do you want to be the best at?
3. Where are you curious?
4. The difference in people is the knowledge they pursue!
5. You can’t pray for people to be blessed in a certain area if they have no
curiosity in that area.
6. What is your passion?

F. WHAT THEY’RE WILLING TO STOP DOING

1. Saying stupid things! Treating people unkindly….

G. THE PRICE THEY’RE WILLING TO PAY FOR UNCOMMON MENTORSHIP

1. It will cost you to get into your future.

2. You must pursue and get close to an uncommon mentor/leader
3. Servanthood is the door to access.

a. John Osteen had a young man come to meet with him. After he had asked Pastor
Osteen his questions, he told him, “I would like to know how to become your
protégé.” John asked him, “Are you sure you want to know the cost to become
my protégé?” Then laid out his vision and mission to reach the world, and told
him, “If you want to be my protégé, this is the investment you’ve got to make to
help me reach the world.”

b. Elisha stayed around Elijah…wanted everything he had. If you see me

when I leave…you can’t afford to leave my sight. For 22 years, he took
care of Elijah. Servanthood is the door to access

H. WHO THEY ARE WILLING TO TRAIN

1. Your future comfort depends on this. Parents, train your children in

honor, and you won’t spend your last years alone.

a. Training is the most difficult seed to sow.

I. WHO THEY CAN RECEIVE FROM

1. Naeman the Syrian commander got his healing from leprosy b/c he was
willing to listen to his maid.
2. God can use not only people above us, but also someone small or
insignificant to bless us.
3. Sometimes the greatest ideas come from unlikely people. [I can relate! I
was a horrible listener. I couldn’t receive from any body.]

J. WHO THEY ARE WILLING TO BLAME FOR THEIR PROBLEMS AND REACTION TO
CORRECTION

1. Adam blamed his wife.

K. THEIR CONFIDENCE IN THE INTEGRITY OF GOD

1. Numbers 23:19 – “God is not a man that He should lie…”

2. Their confidence in the character of God.
3. You can be so close to God that you don’t doubt Him.

II THE GREATEST CHALLENGE I’VE EVER GIVEN TO HGC - Never been done in my
history as Pastor. Believe it will move us to a whole new level.

A. To break the spirit of poverty off this church and any current member and
future member … with a $1000 seed offering, above your tithe [12 months]
B. “I don’t have $1000.” GOD supplies the seed for the sower!!!
C. SEED IS NOT FOR EATING … IT’S FOR PLANTING.
D. My family’s giving … NOT ALWAYS EASY….at all. Income not increased much
E. Mike Murdock – Had some $ saved up…God told him to show honor to a
Pastor on his birthday. Mike fought God b/c the man was blessed and so he
told the Lord, “He’s already got a lot of blessing. The last thing he needs is
my check.” The Lord said, “You need his anointing.” It took Mike 30 days to
obey. 14 days after he invested this $, he got a call from a man who heard
Mike say, “You break the spirit of poverty with a $1000 seed.” After he
sowed that seed, his business saw promotion with secular stars, etc.
promoting it for free.”
1. God returned it to Mike 100-fold.

F. The difference in people is their confidence in the character of God.

G. If you can’t trust God, who can you trust?

H. Mike – had nothing …. Received a $5000 check. [Kitchen chairs/curtains]

1. God said to give $1000 seed offering.

2. Get something straight …. We don’t have ANYTHING God did not give us.

I. Whoever said money doesn’t make you happy doesn’t have any.
J. Money doesn’t make you happy … spending money makes you money!

K. Mike obeyed God and gave $10,000. Someone asked him, “Did you feel
good?” No, I never feel good giving everything away!

1. Six days later, Paul Crouch called and gave him free airtime on TBN.

STEP OF FAITH …. GET OUT OF THE BOAT!!

SCRIPTURE TEXT: Proverbs 4:7 – “Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get
wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote
you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her.”
One main purpose of wisdom is to stop the wrong voice from speaking into your life.
[2:16] The Bible says the easiest way to get wisdom is to “buy it.” Invest in books,
etc.

Wisdom is the ability to recognize DIFFERENCE … difference in people, places,

environment, right and wrong, opportunity, your assignment from someone else.
Knowing who to honor in your life. Honor is rewarding someone for their difference.

L. THE VOICE THEY TRUST AND NOT TRUST

1. A non-listener is a very challenging person to have around!

2. You’re not even you in the presence of a distrusting person.
3. Jesus couldn’t do any miracles when there was unbelief present.
a. He couldn’t “be Himself” in Nazareth so he had to go to Capernaum.
b. Same with you!

M. WHO THEY ADMIRE

1. You can only learn from someone you admire, not someone you resent.
2. Get close to success – Elijah and Elisha … close through servanthood.
a. Close to someone you knows something you don’t know.

N. HOW THEY RESPOND TO SOMEONE SMARTER THAN THEM

1. How do you react around someone above you, or smarter than you? Are
you intimidated?
2. We’re not all equal. If we were, whose going to teach?
3. You cannot be developed unless someone is intimidating you!! You’re
intimidated b/c they’re smarter, more skilled than you….and that’s who
you can learn from.

O. REACTION TO A CRISIS

1. Who are the top 5 people you call?

2. What caused it? Do you collect and research what your options are, etc.?
3. Every crisis can be resolved by asking 5 questions.
