RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research methodology is said to back bone of research. For every comprehensive research a proper
research methodology is indispensable & it has to be properly conceived. Research is of three types
descriptive research , exploratory research and causal research in our case we are going for descriptive
research as we have conduct a survey on “The Trends of visiting beauty salon by men in LPU, with
special reference to beauty and barber shop”. The selected data is from Lovely Professional
University,Phagwara.

RESEARCH DESIGN
According to Clifford Woody, “research comprises defining and redefining problems, formulating
hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data; making deductions and
reaching conclusions; and at last carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the
formulating hypothesis.
An exploratory research based on a survey of the concerning literature. A sample survey will be
conducting with the help of Scheduling Method of collecting data i.e. personally the enumerator will
visit and get the questionnaires filled from the respondents. The enumerator in this method helps the
respondents in recording their answers to various questions in the said schedules.

SOURCES OF DATA
There are two types of data viz. primary and secondary. The primary data are those which are collected
a fresh and for the first time and thus happen to be original in character.

The secondary data, on the other hand, are those which have already been collected by someone else
and which have already been passed through the statistical process.

For this research report, primary data will be collected from questionnaire from the men’s and boys
who visit beauty salons and parlors and there will no bias on the part of the enumerator while

selecting the sample for the analysis.

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
(Convince sampling technique will be used)

Convince sampling is a type of non-probability sampling. Under this technique the Sample is selected at
the convince of Researcher. In this type of technique those samples are chosen which are very near to the
researcher and are easily available in the population. Of all sampling types, convenience sampling is least
expensive and least time consuming.
Non-Probability sampling procedure will be used. Non-Probability Sampling relies on the personal
judgment of the researcher rather than chance to select sample elements. Researcher decides which
elements to take in the sample. Because there is no way of determining the probability of selecting any
particular element for inclusion in the sample, the estimates obtained are not statistically projectable to
the population.

SAMPLE SIZE
A sample size of 100 respondents will be taken from LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY, which
are involved in visiting beauty salons or parlors or are interested in visiting and through the questionnaire
we will come to know how the trends are being changing and what percent of men’s from LPU visit salons.

SAMPLE AREA
The sample area will be the entire Campus of Lovely Professional University with the respondent who are
visiting beauty salons and parlors for the services or are planning to visit.

DATA SELECTION/INSTRUMENTS
TOOL TO BE USED
Tools are nothing but instruments that assist the researcher to collect the data; they are used for collection
of certain type of information or proof, which helps to analyze the responses of sample on related variables
for the present study the following tool will be used.
Questionnaire on factors of men’s trends towards visiting beauty and parlors developed by investigator
itself will be used.
STATISTICAL TOOLS USED
WHAT SOFTWARE WILL BE USED: - EXCEL
EXCEL: - Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet developed by Microsoft for windows, mac, OS Android and
IOS. It features calculation graphing tools pivot table and a macro programming language called visual
basic for application with the help of Excel we will be doing the regression required for the data analysis.
