Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Sway
• This tool can help students who are unable to focus on big screens and will provide students with
their personal copy that they can view.
• This tool also helps students who may have difficult seeing.
Minecraft
• This tool is helpful for engaging students in a diverse way for a different kind of content delivery.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the activity students will put away any work that they were doing before hand and take out their
mathematics notebook, pencils, and the school issued laptop or set up in the school’s computer lab.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☒ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☒ Other (please explain): I have two
SRT activities in this lesson, the first being a fill in the blank collecting data for the teacher to see if the
students are understanding the material completely. The second is a summative assessment to collect data
on how well the students understand the producers that have to take place.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:
During the lesson students will be actively engaged with the material through the use of online software such
as Minecraft and the use of Office 365 Forms to answers questions throughout the lesson. Students will have
chances to actively learn in Minecraft as they take that knowledge and transfer it to examples that the
teacher provides and then to both the formative and summative assessments.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Questions are posted in lesson provided.
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
For the summative assessment I will have pre-selected answers but for the formative I want the go over the
question with the students that way we can cover any material that they are confused on.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the summative assessment given to the students, the teacher will have the option to go over the
answers and how to get them or call on students to come to the board and work out each problem.
How will the data be used?
The formative assessment, fill in the blank, will be used for the teacher to see how the students are
understanding the material and talk about any misconceptions that the students may have before the
summative assessment. The summative assessment, multiple choice, will be taken up as a grade as well as a
final check to make sure the students understand the material.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
With this lesson plan I am getting use to having Minecraft used in a educational setting while keeping it fun
for the students and having them actively engaged with the lesson. This will be a great chance to see how well
moving from a digital classroom back to the traditional goes. My main goal for the students is for them to
understand the practicality of using mathematics in the real world.
Reflective Practice:
I feel like these activities I have planned for the students will be very beneficial with keeping their interest in
the lesson as well as introducing the material in a way that they can see a use for. Because of Minecraft’s
similarities to real world implications, students will be able to make connections that might not be necessarily
prevalent at first. If this tool is deemed as beneficial for students, then I would look for ways to implement it
more into future lesson plans as well as using real life examples of how what happens in the game is what
happens in everyday life.
