RANGE
>
> SFP system offers 4 types of conduit having different characteristics and
performances.
> Not only PA6.6 conduit for standard applications, but also specific superior quality
polyamide (PA 12) conduit for robotic applications, with high resistance to alternating
movements.
> For heavy automation applications with the possibility of shocks and vibrations, we
offer the new PA 6.6. UL-Recognized conduit.
> For industrial applications with high temperatures, sparks or rugged environments
we now have new galvanized steel braid covered conduit.

THE NEW FEATURES OF SFP SYSTEM
>
> The main new feature of SFP system is the modern and innovative
connector which links easy and intuitive working conditions with high
security.
> Quick assembly is one of the main characteristics of SFP
connectors, a simple answer to all professionals’ expectations.
> A range of two threads (ISO and PG) where every fitting can be
easily identified by the clear diameter inscription of the conduit you can
connect and of the male thread.
> SFP system has been designed to maximize the cross section area So a conduit D10 has D outside = 10mm.

Thus, SFP system is especially suitable for onerous industrial

CONDUIT INSERTION

> The fitting provides a tapered entry for the conduit and hence
the firmer the pressure the more secure the perimeter seal
becomes between the conduit and fitting.
2
> The fitting is locked in place by simply pulling the connector
lock nut, resulting in a good resistance to pulling and avoiding
unthreading of the conduit.

> To assess the vibration resistance of PSP cable > The tested cable glands, assembled onto a cropped conduit end, are
glands in different electromechanical applications subjected to a range of vibration frequencies (from 2Hz up to 250Hz)
such as heavy automation or naval vessels, in three perpendicular directions. Finally, a test of 90 minutes at 30Hz
reference was taken to the “Regolamento per frequency is carried out.
impianti elettrici” of the Registro Italiano Navale
(RINA), which includes a severe test of vibration > At the end of the test, none of the samples had accidentally uncoupled
resistance. or suffered damage. Subsequently they were also subjected to the
degree of protection test which confirmed the IP68 rating.
> The test investigates if a critical vibration frequency exists, which
can damage the product or cause accidental uncoupling.
> A quality product now even more versatile thanks to the innovative range of three colours.
> In addition to the grey (RAL7001) cable glands for the machine tools, we offer two new colours:
light grey RAL 7035 for industrial, residential and commercial installations and black to meet OEM
requirements.
> All three colours of gland are available in ISO thread (from M12 up to M63) and PG thread (from

> Cable glands capable of relieving the cable conductors from strain, including
CHANGE twisting, are specified as with cable anchorage.
> The anchorage test, according to EN 50262, details a coaxial twisting test in which the sample is

A little background...
1955: P.Dec. 547. Only applicable to Ex systems: “explosion proof” protection systems.
Redundant and expensive solutions, for less dangerous areas.
1973: CEI 64-2 setting some standard extensions of EP Zones (Explosion-proof) based
on the “centres of danger”. The types of electric systems that can be used are defined
based on the level of danger of the zones. In less dangerous area it was possible to use
materials with IP44/55 protection index (EP-FT).
1994: 94/9/CE Directive (Atex) outlines the requirements and procedures for defining
the compliance of protection devices and systems for use in potentially explosive
atmosphere.
2003: CEI EN 60079 (for gases) and CEI EN 50281 (for dusts). The use of simply
watertight materials in environments classed at risk of explosion is no longer permitted.
New protection means are introduced for less dangerous areas (Zone 2 and Zone 22):
Ex n for gases and II 3D for dusts.
The designer is given the duty of setting the classification level, based on the listed
parameters, and the degree of extension of the dangerous areas.
What is Atex?
Atex is the coming together of two Directives that regulate “Potentially explosive
atmospheres”.
94/9/CE Directive applicable to protection devices and systems for use in potentially
explosive atmosphere.
99/92/CE Directive outlining the minimum requirements for the safeguard of health and
safety of workers exposed to the risks of explosive atmosphere.

What is meant by classification of a zone
as posing a risk of explosion?
The classification is the way to indicate, based on the risk analysis, if and to which extent

Examples of activities that generate
potentially explosive atmospheres
From: “Non compulsory good practices guidelines in view of the implementation of
1999/92/CE Directive, on the minimum requirements for the improvement of the health
and safety of workers that may be exposed to the risk of explosive atmospheres”
Chemical In the chemical sector, flammable gases, liquids and solids are transformed and
processed following various kinds of processes. These processes may cause the
sector formation of explosive atmospheres.
Waste sites Flammable waste gases may form in waste disposal sites. To prevent such
gases from spreading in an uncontrolled way and to ignite, widespread
and building technical measures must be implemented. Flammable gases, from different
engineering sources, may accumulate in scarcely ventilated galleries, cellars etc.
Energy When non explosive pieces of coal are in contact with air, coal dust may form,
capable of exploding during the processing stages, such as extraction, grinding
production and drying. All these processes may in fact create an explosive dust/air mix.
During the treatment of waste waters at purification sites, the resulting biogases
Disposal may cause the formation of gas/air explosive mixes.
Wood During wood processing operations, wood dusts may be produced, for example
industry inside filters or sites, which may result in dust/air explosive mixes.
The overspray that forms during spray painting operations inside painting
Painting cabins, and the vapors of solvents mixed with air may cause explosive
atmospheres.
Some agricultural companies run plants for the production of biogases. Any
Agriculture release of biogases in the air, for example due to leaks, may cause the formation
of explosive biogas/air mixes.
In the production of metal parts using the pressing procedure, explosive metal
Metallurgy dusts may form during the surface treatment operations (sanding etc.).
This is particularly true with light metals
Food and
animal Explosive dusts may form during the transportation and storage of cereals.
nutrition sector
Pharmaceutical During the production of drugs, substances containing alcohol are often used
as solvents. Active and carrier substances, such as lactose, may also be used,
industry which may cause dust explosions.
