Abstract
Informatica provides a list of supported upgrade paths for users who want to upgrade their Informatica product. This
article describes the supported upgrade paths to upgrade to Informatica 9.6.1.

Informatica Upgrade Paths Overview

To upgrade the Informatica products, follow the upgrade paths that Informatica supports.

Use the supported upgrade paths for the following Informatica products and the documents and caveats associated
with each path:

• Data Transformation
• Data Quality
• Data Services
• PowerCenter
When you perform the upgrade, upgrade to the latest HotFix version of the target release. For example, to upgrade
from an Informatica 9.5.1 version to a later Informatica 9.5.1 HotFix version, apply the HotFix for the target version. For
more information, see the HotFix Installation and Rollback section of the Informatica Release Notes.

Informatica Upgrade Paths

The Informatica platform consists of a server component and one or more client components. Informatica provides
separate installers to upgrade the Informatica services and clients.

If the product version that is currently installed cannot be upgraded to Informatica 9.6.1, you must first upgrade to a
supported version. To determine the Informatica product version that is currently installed, click Help > About
Informatica Administrator in the Informatica Administrator header area.

Data Transformation
Before you upgrade Data Transformation, back up the Data Transformation files that were created under previous
versions. After you complete the upgrade, copy the files to the new installation directories to get the same workspace,
repository, custom global components, and library files as in the previous version.

The following table describes the Data Transformation versions from which you can upgrade:

Data Transformation 9.0.1 or earlier You must uninstall Data Transformation and then install Data Transformation
versions 9.6.1.

Data Transformation 9.1.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Transformation 9.5.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Transformation 9.5.1 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Transformation 9.6.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Quality
The following table describes the Data Quality versions from which you can upgrade:

Data Quality 9.0.1 You must first upgrade to Data Quality 9.1.0 and then upgrade to Data Quality
9.6.1.

Data Quality 9.1.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Quality 9.5.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Quality 9.5.1 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Quality 9.6.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Services
The following table describes the Data Services versions from which you can upgrade:

Data Services 9.0.1 You must first upgrade to Data Services 9.1.0 and then upgrade to Data
Services 9.6.1.

Data Services 9.1.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

Data Services 9.5.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

PowerCenter
The following table describes the PowerCenter versions from which you can upgrade:

PowerCenter 8.1.x You must first upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter
9.6.1.
Note: If the PowerCenter 8.1.1 domain includes the Metadata Manager Service
or the Reporting Service, you must upgrade to PowerCenter 8.6.1 and then
upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 before you upgrade to PowerCenter 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 8.5.x You must first upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter
9.6.1.
Note: If the PowerCenter 8.5.x domain includes the Metadata Manager Service
or the Reporting Service, you must upgrade to PowerCenter 8.6.1 and then
upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 before you upgrade to PowerCenter 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 8.6 You must first upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter
9.6.1.
Note: If the PowerCenter 8.6 domain includes the Metadata Manager Service,
Reporting Service, or Content Management Service, you must first upgrade to
PowerCenter 8.6.1 and then upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 before you upgrade
to PowerCenter 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 8.6.1 You must first upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter
9.6.1.

PowerCenter 9.0.1 You must first upgrade to PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter
9.6.1.
Note: If the PowerCenter 9.0.1 domain includes the Metadata Manager Service
and Metadata Manager contains business glossaries, you must first upgrade to
PowerCenter 9.1.0 and then upgrade to 9.5.0 before you upgrade to
PowerCenter 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 9.1.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1

Note: If the PowerCenter 9.1.0 domain includes the Metadata Manager Service
and Metadata Manager contains business glossaries, you must first upgrade to
PowerCenter 9.5.0 and then upgrade to PowerCenter 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 9.5.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 9.5.1 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.

PowerCenter 9.6.0 You can upgrade to version 9.6.1.
