ROLE PLAY SCRIPT WITH TBC PATIENTS

In a lung disease room (pulmonary ward) there is a patient named Mrs. Yuli, who was
diagnosed with TBC, the complaint suffered by the patient was cough with blood, shortness of
breath, headache, and fever.

As usual, in the morning a nurse will visit the patient to check the patient's condition

N : “Good morning Mrs. yuli”

P : “Good morning nurse”

N : “I’m nurse suci. In here, I want to check your condition?”

P : “Sure”

N : “Mrs. yuli, how are you feeling today?”

P : “I want to say that i'm ok, but I feel terrible”

N : “Please, describe what’s wrong with you?”

P : “I have got a headache, and I can’t catch my breath”

N : “Okey, I just want to check your blood pressure?”

P : “Sure”

N : “Did you sleep well last night?”

P : “Not really, because I still got the problem with my headache and and a disturbing cough
in my sleep”
N : “You got problem with your headache and cough? Ok, I will report this to your doctor.
Now would you roll up your sleeve up”

P : “Sure”

N : (checking the BP)

“Ok i have checked the blood pressure. Now, please give me your right hand. I need to
check your pulse”

P : “Sure”

N : “Ok, I will read the results I got, blood pressure: 140/100mmHg high blood pressure or
hypertension, temperature 39oc, your body temperatur high or above normal limits, pulse:
88x/m normal, respiratory rate: 24 x / minute, you have high breathing or above the normal
limit. And you feel of headaches, coughing, difficulty breathing,and fever, right ? ”

P : (the patient just nods his head)

N : “Ok I have checked the condition of you in this morning, later in the afternoon there will
be a doctor who will check your condition, and beforehand did you want to ask?”

P : “No, thank you”

N : “Ok, if there is no question I say goodbye, if you need my help please you can press the
bell that has been provided by the hospital, or in the nursing room, thanks, good morning”

P : “Okey suster, good morning”

In the afternoon, as promised by the nurse in this afternoon there will be a doctor who will check
the patient's condition.

Doctors and nurses went to the room of Mrs. Yuli's patient

D : “Hi, how are you?”

P : “Not good, doctor”

D : “Okey, tell me what you feel. Sorry what’s your name?”

P : “Yuli doc”

D : “Okey, miss yuli what do you feel?”

P : “I feel don’t well”

D : “Whats the matter with you?”

P : “I have got a headache, and I can’t catch my breath”

D : “Okay, May I check first your body?”

P : (the patient just nods his head)

D : (while putting the stethoscope in the patient's chest)….”Any other symptoms, is anything
else the matter?”

P : “I think i have a coughing cannot expel sputum and sometimes blood comes out with
sputum”

D : “Ok, later there will be a nurse who will give the nebulizer to make it easy to discharge
the sputum ”

P : “Dock, is it sick?”

D : “Not It is not, it’s only vaporized by medicine, later it will be explained by the holy
nurse”

P : “Okey dock”

D : “See how you feel tomorrow. if you dont feel beeter, call the nurse and we'll make another
appointment”

P : “Thank you, doctor”

A few hours later, a nurse came to give the patient a nebulizer

N : “Good afternoon Mrs. Yuli”

P : “Good afternoon nurse Suci”

N : “By the command of Doctor. That which had been suggested, that Miss Yuli had to be
nebulized or the drug was given by evaporation”

P : “Okey nurse”

N : “When it is evaporated, the breathes using nose as usual, inhaling and removing it through
her nose, until the medicine runs out, then push this button” (while showing the button to
be pressed)

P : “Okey nurse”

N : “Ok I have attached it, I said goodbye, later I will come here again to check on your
condition, good afternoon”

P : “Good afternoon nurse”

A few hours later

N : “Good afternoon miss yuli”

P : “Good afternoon”

N : “How miss yuli, after the nebulizer?”

P : “Alhamdulillah, I can cough expelling sputum”

N : “Any other symptoms, is anything else the matter?”

P : “I think, I have a headache, and sometimes I feel dizing.”

N : “Okey you must get rest well. i said goodbye, if you need my help you can press the bell
that has been provided by the hospital, or in the nursing room, thanks, good afternoon”
P : “Okey suster, good afternoon”
