ABSTRACT
The study was motivated by the lack of development of the ability to write a short
story student text for teaching materials used by students not in the form of a text book but,
still in draft Indonesian student book. The purpose of this study to describe the learning
modules short story writing text-basedtechnique critical incident for junior high school
students of class IX 8 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research methods
development. Development model used in this study is a model ADDIE by using the steps:
(1) Analysis (analyze), (2) Design (designing), (3) Development (developing), (4)
Implementation (implements), dan (5) Evaluation (evaluate). The research result toward
development of learning modules short story writing text-basedtechnique critical incident
for junior high school students of class IX 8 Padang. First, the falidity of the learning
modules short story writing text-basedtechnique critical incident developed as very valid ie
95.9%. Second, the practicalities of learning modules short story writing text-basedtechnique
critical incident developedas very valid that 100% of the result of the practicalities of
teachers and 92.2% of the practicalities of the students. Third, the effectiveness of the
learning modules short story writing text-basedtechnique critical incident developedas very
effective of observation of student activity obtained an average score of 97.6% and the value
of the average student who is the subject of the trial was 90.2%. Thus, it can be concluded
that the learning module to write a short story text-basedtechnique critical incident
developed can be used as teaching materials in learning Indonesian prose, especially for
short story writing text material.
