SCHOOL’S POLICY ON CHILD PROTECTION

I – Title: School Child Protection Policy

II – Statement of Purpose

To safeguard the rights of every child and to exercise their freedom and
ensure that they will be free from abuse, violence, exploitation, discrimination and
bullying.

III – Duties and Responsibilities

a. School Head
1. Ensure that the school adopts a child protection policy.
2. Conduct disciplinary proceedings in case of offenses committed by
pupils
3. Maintain a record of all proceedings related to bullying
4. Ensure that all incidents of abuse, violence, exploitation,
discrimination, bullying & other similar acts are addressed in
accordance with the provision of this Department Order
b. School Personnel
1. Exercise special parental authority and responsibility over the child
while under their supervision, instruction and custody
2. Give them love and affective, advice and counsel, companionship and
understanding
3. Enhance, protect, preserve and maintain their physical and mental
health at all times
4. Inculcate the value of respect and obedience.
c. Learners
1. Comply with the school’s regulations as long as they are in harmony
with their best interests.
2. Respect another person’s rights regardless of opinion, status, gender,
ethnicity, religion as well as everyone’s moral and physical integrity.

V – Child Protection Policy


1. Refrain from giving corporal punishment such as: Whipping, kicking,
punching and slapping. Also to include derogatory remarks and all other
forms of child abuse and exploitation
2. Freedom to play and enjoy their childhood.
3. Prevention of any forms of bullying.
4. Give them chance to participate in all school activities.
5. Respect the rights of every individual regardless of socio-economic,
culture, religion and race.
6. All teachers and other school personnel must exercise full adherence to
child safety and protection against all forms of neglect, abuse, exploitation,
harassment and bullying.
