I – OBJECTIVES:
1. Explain why and how cells divide.
2. Identify and arrange the four stages of the cell cycle.

II – SUBJECT MATTER:
“Cell Cycle” in S & T II textbook pp. 320-322.

III – LEARNING TASKS:

A. Review: The Chromosomes: What are the different parts of the chromosomes?
DNA, contains the genetic materials that serves as the set of instructions
that direct the activities and function of a cells.
B. Motivation: Present a figure about chromosomes, and label the different parts.
C. Lesson Proper
1. Activity - Let the students group into four. And do the activity
Q1. What are the four stages of the cell cycle? Discuss what happens
during this phase?
Q2. What do you think are the functions of cell division? Give at least 3
reasons
Q3. Using the concepts listed on page 321-322, arrange the pictures in
order to follow the stages during Mitosis.

2. Analysis - Ask the ff:

a. What are the important events that happened in every stage?
b. If a cell is properly nourished, it will grow in size, its volume, to
surface area will increase. What does this mean?
3. Abstraction - Ask the ff:
a. How do cells grow or divide?
b. Why do cells grow or divide?
c. Explain what happens in every stages as the grow or divide.
4. Application – What will happen to body cells or sex cells if it
will not divide or grow?
