Teacher: Ms. Marveneth C. Nawong Day: Monday & Wednesday

I- OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Describe the structure and composition of the Universe;
2. State the different hypothesis that preceded the Big Bang Theory of the Origin of the Universe.
3. Explain the Big Bang Theory and evidences supporting the theory.

II- SUBJECT MATTER

“Universe and the Solar System”

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the formation of the universe.

III- REFERENCE AND MATERIALS

Module in Earth and Life Science and a power point.

IV- METHODS AND PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities
 Classroom Management
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
B. Review
“What was our previous lesson? Very Good. Do you have any questions before we
proceed? Are you sure? If that so, let us now begin our lesson for today.”
C. Motivation
“Jumbled letters and four pic one word (8 minutes)”
D. Lesson Proper
“Now, what are those pictures and form words that you saw earlier all about? Very good,
It tells about what are the things that we can find in the universe. Our lesson for this
morning will be about the universe and the solar system. What are the theories that you
know about the origin of the universe? Did you ever heard a story from your grandparents
about the origin of our universe? Then tell us about it too. Who can share? Wow! What
an amazing storyteller your grandfather was. So, let us now together explore and learn
the theories about the origin of the universe. Before we proceed let us first define the
important terms that we will encounter later as we go on to our lesson:
Unlocking of Unfamiliar Scientific Words
Baryonic matter- “ordinary” matters consisting of protons, electrons and neutrons that
comprises atoms, planets, stars, galaxies, and other bodies.
Dark matter- matter that has gravity but does not emit light.
Dark energy- a source of anti-gravity; a force that counteracts gravity and causes the
universe to expand.
Protostar- an early stage in the formation of the star resulting from the gravitational
collapse of gases.
Thermonuclear reaction- a nuclear fusion reaction responsible for the energy produced
by stars.

Main sequence stars- a star that fuse hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms in their
cores.
Light years- the distance light can travel in a year; a unit of length used to measure
astronomical distance. (Present the Power point).

E. Application
A brief reporting
“We will have a brief report about the theories of the origin of the universe.
I will divide you into three groups. Group 1 will discuss about the Big Bang Theory.
Group 2 will have the Steady State Theory and group 3 will report to us about their
understanding in Oscillating Universe Theory. I will give you 3 minutes to organize
your ideas. Let us listen to group 1, very good, give them Aling Dionisia clap. Next,
group 2, well said, give them Kris Aquino clap. Last but not the least group 3, amazing!
For that give them Kim Chiu clap.

F. Generalization/Valuing

Question: Will the universe continue to expand? May I hear your opinion or idea about
this hanging question? Each member from the group will express their thoughts about
the question. Let us hear first from group 1. Very Good! Yes, group 2. Well said, and
Group 3, excellent!
V- EVALUATION
1
Quiz: (15points) /4 sheet of paper
Explain each theories about the origin of the universe base on what you understand.

VI- ASSIGNMENT
