0.1 INTRODUCTION
Following a recent amendment of CAR 66, in order to endorse the first A/C type in the CAR 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license Applicant shall be able to
demonstrate an appropriate On-the-Job (OJT) training as detailed in the Appendix III (CAR Part-66). The OJT shall be approved by Chief of Quality through the
approval of LEP pages and submitted to DGCA for acceptance.

The day-to-day supervision of the OJT programme in the CAR 145 AMO is done by supervisor(s), which is/are not necessarily the practical assessor. The supervisor is responsible to countersign the tasks
and release the maintenance tasks as the trainee is still not qualified to do so. Therefore the supervisor shall have certifying staff or support staff privileges relevant to the OJT tasks , be competent for the
selected tasks, be safety-orientated, be capable to coach (setting objectives, giving training, performing supervision, evaluating , handling trainee’s reactions and cultural issues, managing objectively and
positively debriefing sessions, determining the need for extra training or reorientation the training, reporting, etc.), be d esignated by the approved maintenance organization to carry out the supervision.

1. The OJT should cover at least 50% of the tasks contained in Appendix II to AMC to CAR-66. Tasks should be selected from each paragraph of the Appendix II
list.
2. The endorsement of the first aircraft type rating within a given category/subcategory requires satisfactory completion of the corresponding On-the-Job Training
(OJT) as described in Appendix III to CAR 66.
3. Tasks should be selected among those applicable to the type of aircraft and licence (sub) category applied for. Other tasks than those in the
Appendix II to AMC to CAR-66 may be considered as a replacement when they are relevant. Typically, in addition to the variety and the complexity, the OJT
tasks should be selected because of their frequency, safety, novelty etc.
4. This OJT Logbook can be used for limitation removal of Airframe (Code 1) and Engine (Code 2) by completing only related to limitation removal task of the
Airframe/ Engine. Non-relevant tasks can be marked as not applicable (NA).
5. Up to 50% of the required OJT may be undertaken before the aircraft theoretical type training starts.
6. Each task shall be signed off by the student and countersigned by a designated supervisor.
7. The final assessment of the completed OJT is mandatory and shall be performed by a designated assessor appropriately qualified.

2.2 LOGBOOK ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL RECORDS
The completion of this part is optional and intended to be used when the need exist to record additional data which was not possible to be entered in the
previous pre-filled logbook. This need may be identified by the CAR 145 AMO delivering the training (i.e. Quality Manager, Supervisor, assessor)
In particular, when a pre-filled task required in the logbook cannot be completed due to unavailability of the particular maintenance activity, this part may be
used to record evidence of a different maintenance task performed to satisfy the same requirement. In this case a cross reference shall be made between the
two tables to identify the task which is replaced under the responsibility of the supervisor countersigning the corresponding row.
The table below is intended to be hand written (add rows as necessary).

3.1 COMPLIANCE REPORT

The intent of this table is to provide a compliance report demonstrating that the OJT meets the standard required by Appendix III to Part 66. In particular, the table
shall indicate the percentage of tasks effectively performed against the tasks contained in the Appendix II to Part 66 which are applicable to the aircraft type.

3.2 Final assessment of the OJT

The final assessment of the completed OJT is mandatory and required to be performed by a team of at least two personnel, consisting of a designated assessor
appropriately qualified and QM/Dy QM or their representative. QM/Dy. QM or their representative will assist the OJT Assessor to carry out his duties.
The OJT Assessor will scrutinize to ensure the following:
a) The candidate has completed the applicable OJT tasks and the tasks have been signed by the candidate as well as the OJT supervisor.
b) For the purpose of independent assessment, the trainee should carry out at least two core task randomly selected by the assessor, under the supervision of the
assessor.
